Sarah Ferguson Congratulated Epstein on the Birth of a ‘Baby Boy’, New Files Reveal
Trigger Warning: This article contains themes of sexual abuse that some readers may find distressing.
Fresh disclosures from the Jeffrey Epstein files continue to cast an unforgiving light on the web of relationships that surrounded the disgraced financier. Among the latest revelations is a newly surfaced email exchange between Sarah Ferguson and Epstein. According to a new batch of documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice, the former Duchess of York appears to have congratulated Epstein on the birth of a 'baby boy' in 2011, a fact that has been disputed in Epstein’s own family.
The correspondence is dated September 21, 2011. Though the sender’s contact details have been redacted, one of the emails is signed “Sarah” and references both “The Duke” and “Andrew,” strongly indicating it was sent by Ferguson, now 66. She was married to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from 1986 until their divorce in 1996, and the former couple share two daughters, Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35.
“Don’t know if you are still on this BBM [BlackBerry Messenger] but heard from The Duke that you have had a baby boy,” the first email reads, according to the BBC.
“Even though you never kept in touch, I still am here with love, friendship and congratulations [sic] on your baby boy. Sarah xx,” it adds.
Just eight minutes later, a second message followed from the same redacted sender. “You have disappeared,” the email allegedly reads. “I did not even know you were having a baby. It was sooooo crystal clear to me that you were only friends with me to get to Andrew. And that really hurt me deeeply. More than you will know.”
Questions over the authenticity of the claim itself were raised, however. Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, told Business Insider that Jeffrey Epstein did not have any children. “If Jeff had a kid, I think I would have known,” he said. The “baby boy” exchange is just one part of a wider collection of correspondence between Ferguson and Epstein that has surfaced through the latest document release. In a message dated January 30, 2010, Ferguson wrote, “You are a legend. I really don’t have the words to describe my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness.” She later added, “Xx I am at your service. Just marry me.”
Another email from the same year shows Epstein asking Ferguson about a potential trip to New York. Her response referenced her younger daughter in explicit terms, “Not sure yet. Just waiting for Eugenie to come back from a shagging weekend!!” At the time, Princess Eugenie was 19 years old.
Crucially, all of the emails were sent after Epstein’s 2008 conviction in Florida on charges of procuring a child for prostitution and soliciting a prostitute. Epstein was arrested again in July 2019 on federal charges accusing him of sexually abusing girls as young as 14 and running a sex trafficking operation. He died by suicide one month later while awaiting trial.
