Sarah Ferguson is facing fresh warnings, amid claims she may be preparing to publish a controversial memoir. Insiders say those around the former Duchess of York are concerned she could ‘go rogue’ in pursuit of a large payout — a move they believe would have serious consequences for her remaining ties to the royal family.

And behind it is the suggestion that Ferguson is laying the groundwork for a tell-all memoir, one where she spills all the beans. Sources say the book, if it materialises, would not be a gentle throwback but a potentially explosive account drawn from decades spent on the inside of royal life. While it has not been officially announced, those close to the situation believe the signals are worrying enough that serious warnings are already being issued.

And currently, Ferguson is in the process of vacating Royal Lodge, the sprawling 31-room home in Windsor Great Park that she has shared for years with her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor,  despite their divorce in 1996. Mountbatten-Windsor’s final fall from grace and King Charles III’s decision to strip his younger brother, and by extension Ferguson, of royal standing following their long-standing association with convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein. Being forced to leave Royal Lodge has reportedly been deeply upsetting for both Andrew and Fergie, but insiders say it has hit her particularly hard.

One source described the moment as emotionally charged, marking the end of a long period in which she continued to live close to royal life, even after formally leaving the family decades ago, OK! had reported. “Sarah is already moving boxes out of the mansion, and they are said to contain years of personal diaries,” one insider said. “There is anxiety that these notebooks could form the backbone of a highly lucrative tell-all, something many would see as a line being crossed.”

While another close to the situation framed it as a calculative move. “There is a feeling she is preparing an escape route, financially and reputationally,” the insider said. “People around her are worried she believes a memoir is her last remaining leverage, and that is why warnings are being issued now rather than later.” Since their divorce, Ferguson has maintained a united front with her ex-husband, standing by him publicly even as his reputation collapsed. She continued to live with him, defended him when criticism mounted, and appeared determined to show loyalty despite mounting pressure.

That arrangement is under strain as circumstances tighten, per insiders.  “She feels she has paid a heavy price for decisions that were not hers alone,” one source said. “In her mind, loyalty to Andrew has brought her very little protection.” Those close to the former Duchess are saying that resentment has been building over time.

And especially as she has faced financial difficulties while remaining linked to Mountbatten-Windsor’s controversies. And it goes without saying that such a move could and would almost certainly end any remaining relationship with the royal family and leave her isolated once the initial attention fades.
