Royal Expert Reveals Why William and Kate Have No Sense of ‘Privilege or Entitlement’
As per the author, the royal couple has carefully built a reputation where humility and accountability are central pillars to them.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are often praised for their grounded approach to royal life. A prominent royal author has now claimed that the couple shows no sense of “privilege or entitlement” often associated with high-profile families, especially the members of the monarchy. As per the author, the royal couple has carefully built a reputation where humility and accountability are the central pillars as they prepare for their future roles as King and Queen.
As reported by Marie Claire, royal author Russell Myers shed light on why the masses rarely hear about the royal couple behaving with entitlement. He simply said, “Because there isn’t any.” He recently released the book William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story, and has closely followed the couple through his work as a royal editor. Their grounded image also became the highlight of their recent royal engagement in London as they visited some breweries and had a meet-and-greet at the Borough Market. They served coffee and brewed beer while depicting an approachable style that has been in contrast to the monarchy’s historically distant image.
Myers also added that Middleton’s non-royal background also played a major role in shaping their more approachable personality. As per him, the latter didn’t grow up within the royal “fishbowl,” and approached her role with careful consideration. He said that Middleton “has taken an excellent approach to her life” and added, “She has worked hard behind the scenes to get to know the institution and how it matters to the public.”
The author revealed how the princess spent years understanding the workings of the institution she is such a vital part of. He shared, “This hasn’t happened overnight, but through more than a decade of studying the intricate nature of where the monarchy is now and the direction that both William and her want to take it in the future.” While speaking about the Wales couple’s style of leadership, he said, “There is much to be said about the quiet way in which they operate, going about their public duties and private lives in a way which is more accountable to not only the people around them, but the people they serve.”
While explaining how the couple is devoted to realigning how the monarchy can connect to the people, Myers said, “accountability and transparency” are elements of utmost importance for them. He added that the senior royals “undoubtedly want to change the direction of the monarchy for the future. William has spoken about ‘change for good,’ but what does this look like in reality?” His remarks were suggestive of the fact that William and Middleton don’t just see their roles as symbolic but as part of a broader strategy to modernize the monarchy.
