Queen Elizabeth’s Former Aide Says Andrew Was ‘Not Her Favorite Son’ — and Reveals Who Was

EXCLUSIVE: The late Queen’s former press secretary debunked the long-held belief, adding that Andrew was arrogant and 'pushed himself in front of everybody.'

IN RECENT years, the Royal Family has been embroiled in allegations relating to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's Epstein scandal.

While he is now living far away from the media, a recent revelation has brought him back to the centre of attention. Recently, theRoyal Observer’s Associate Editor Joshua Rom sat down for a conversation with Dickie Arbiter, former press spokesperson for Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, who dropped a major bombshell.

He revealed that contrary to public belief, Mountbatten-Windsor was never actually the late Queen's favourite son; in fact, another member of the family was favoured altogether.

Speaking about Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s current situation, the veteran British journalist offered a blunt assessment of how the couple handled advice throughout the years. Our associated editor asked Arbiter, “Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Fergie, history aside, when it comes to them currently, do you think it's a case of them not taking advice, them not listening to advice, or them receiving the wrong advice?” To which the journalist and former press secretary for the late Queen was unequivocal in his response, arguing that poor advice was not the issue.

“They were always given good advice. Uh, they didn't take it when it was given, and they didn't seek it, uh, if they were unsure," he shared. Exposing what went on behind palace doors, Arbiter continued, “They were too fairly arrogant people who thought they could do it alone; they thought they knew it all.” Critiquing the former Duke's behavioural issues, he noted, “Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has always been arrogant."

Arbiter then addressed another enduring royal narrative: that Mountbatten-Windsor was Elizabeth’s favorite son. He shared that while the disgraced royal was frequently described in the media as having a particularly close relationship with his mother, that was not the case. “He was labelled by the media as the Queen's favourite son. He wasn't the favourite son. He was just the one who always pushed himself in front of everybody," he revealed. 

Detailing who really was the Queen's favourite of her children, he added, “If there was a favourite in the second family, second family being Andrew and Edward, then it was Edward, who was always reserved, always in the background, never demanding.” Arbiter’s remarks therefore challenge the familiar picture of Mountbatten-Windsor as the Queen’s favoured son, instead presenting a very different explanation for why he may have appeared particularly prominent within the family.
