Queen Camilla Takes a Leaf Out of William and Kate’s Playbook For Historic Wales Outing
Queen Camilla recently visited Wales, and who could be better style inspirations than the Prince and Princess of Wales?
Over the years, the royal family has found special ways to show their respect during state visits and important occasions. Queen Camilla, for instance, is known for wearing symbolic brooches, and she continued with the tradition during her recent visit to Wales as well. However, this time, she seems to have taken inspiration from Prince William’s subtle nods and Princess Kate's flag dressing.

On Thursday, Camilla accompanied King Charles to Cardiff for the historic Senedd opening ceremony. It was the first time that the monarch was attending the event as Head of State, ticking off an important milestone of his tenure. To mark the special occasion and pay tribute to Wales, the Queen Consort wore a brooch in the shape of a leek: a Welsh national emblem.
Earlier this year, William wore a yellow daffodil boutonnière on his suit on Day 2 of Royal Ascot as a nod to Wales since the daffodil is the national flower of the country. The Prince of Wales, meanwhile, wore a bright yellow Roksanda dress with an elaborate mesh hat for Royal Ascot this year. She had seemingly turned her outfit into a fresh yellow daffodil.

Camilla seems to have taken a leaf, or a leek, from the Waleses’ fashion playbook for her recent trip to Cardiff, as her sartorial tribute didn’t just stop at the leek-shaped brooch. For the Senedd opening, the Queen Consort wore a bright red wool crepe coat by Fiona Clare and an intricate red felt beret by Philip Tracy. Red is a big part of Welsh symbolism. The color is represented by the Y Ddraig Goch, or the Red Dragon, on the country’s flag.
The historic event that started on a dramatic note with protests and criticism was completed successfully. Camilla and Charles met a young boy, Noah Jones, whose great-grandfather, Stephen Andrew, helped rescue many children from the Aberfan disaster. One of the kids saved by him, Gareth Jones, was also present at the meeting. Charles, Camilla, and William will visit Wales next week to mark the 60th anniversary of the tragedy.

Additionally, the Queen Consort and the King will go on their important Caribbean tour later this month and will receive the Sultan of Oman at Windsor Castle for his state visit next week.
