Queen Camilla Brings Back Queen Elizabeth’s Beloved Tiara for Sultan of Oman’s State Banquet
Queen Camilla carried a bit of Royal history with her by opting for the late Queen’s favorite tiara.
King Charles and Queen Camilla officially welcomed Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for a historic state visit recently. This visit marks the first time that a Sultan of Oman has visited the United Kingdom in about four decades. The last state visit took place in 1982 when Queen Elizabeth II hosted the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said at Buckingham Palace. In honour of the Sultan, the King also hosted a grand state banquet at Windsor Castle and the grand evening was attended by a lot of key Royal Family members, including the Prince and Princess of Wales. However, it was Queen Camilla's tiara that truly stole the show, which also had a special connection to the late Queen.

For this special occasion, the Royal Family opted to shine in black-tie outfits, making it a rather special tiara moment for the Queen and the Princess of Wales. For the red carpet-ready occasion, Her Majesty opted for a rather striking royal blue-hued gown, which looked magnificent on her. The head-turning, floor-length ensemble also had a form-fitting silhouette with a flowing, full skirt. This well-crafted design perfectly highlighted the Queen’s frame. The exquisite gown was further elevated with some subtle sparkling embellishments, placed near the lower hem.

These shiny additions added a touch of gorgeousness to the ensemble without really overwhelming the design. The elegant gown also had shoulder pads, adding a formal touch to the elegant pick. The gown also beautifully trailed behind the Queen as she walked ahead with pure charm and grace. Beyond this, Camilla chose just the right accessories to add some panache to her head-turning ensemble. This list included the prettiest necklace with matching earrings and the most elegant bracelets from the Royal archive. However, it was her tiara that ended up stealing the spotlight.

For this occasion, Camilla opted for the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. According to a report by Tatler, this incomparable tiara was crafted by the celebrated royal jeweller Garrard. This piece was reportedly given as a gift to Princess Mary before her wedding to Prince Albert. Unfortunately, the Prince passed away before the wedding could take place. Later, it was passed down from Queen Mary to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who loved the tiara dearly. She even wore it to her official accession, and it turned out to be her favorite throughout her royal career. This is exactly why it was the best choice for a tribute to the late Queen and the Queens that came before her.
