Queen Camilla Brings Back a Piece of Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy for Sultan of Oman’s State Visit

Queen Camilla radiated in a red outfit while welcoming the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, at Windsor today, along with King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales. The Queen chose the color to honor the Middle Eastern country, signifying the strong bond and friendship it shares with the monarchy. She paired the vibrant ensemble with an heirloom piece from the late Queen’s collection.

Braving the autumn rain, Camilla wore a crimson wool crepe dress and matching coat, custom-made by one of her favorite designers, Fiona Clare. She complemented the outfit by wearing a matching colored hat by Philip Treacy. Keeping the accessories minimal, Her Majesty paid subtle tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth with a striking piece of jewelry. For the official ceremony, she chose a Cartier ruby brooch, featuring two huge red rubies flanked by two diamond-studded leaves. According to Tatler, the brooches, originally owned by the Queen Mother and created by Cartier in the 1940s, are a pair of floral clips she favored wearing together. Upon inheriting them, Queen Elizabeth II occasionally wore them solo and as a duo. Notably, the late Queen wore the brooches during Christmas at Sandringham in 2009, matching them with an all-red ensemble.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales displayed poise and grace as she welcomed the Sultan. Kate was captured warmly greeting Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said at Windsor, maintaining composure despite the challenging weather. She elegantly performed a perfect curtsy before their formal handshake. King Charles, dressed in a top hat and tails, looked regal as he ascended the steps to the dais while holding a closed umbrella. He greeted his guest with a smile, shook hands, and removed his top hat as Oman's national anthem played.

Following a ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle, King Charles and the Sultan enjoyed a carriage ride together in the Irish State Coach, engaging in lively conversation. The King last met the Sultan in July 2025 for tea at Windsor Castle. Charles has made four official visits to Oman, the latest being in January 2020, when he traveled to Muscat to express condolences after Sultan Qaboos's death. The royal family will be seen attending a splendid banquet later in the evening in honor of the Sultan at St George's Hall.
