Prince William's Public Image May Be Softening Amid Concerns Over Andrew's Mental Health

Reportedly, Prince William maintained a strong front in public, but privately, even he struggled to see his uncle's fall from grace.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's fall from grace was a challenging period for the entire royal family. Reportedly, Prince William kept the strong suit in front of everyone, but internally, even he was hurting to see his uncle fall into shambles. Today, Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson are leading a secluded life, with the royal family keeping its distance. However, a recent profile of Princess Kate offered fresh insight into the family dynamic, after she described her children as “feral,” and dropped a hint about how William feels deeply for the former Duke of York.

While the former prince was getting stripped of his royal titles, there were murmurs that William was the driving force behind King Charles taking firm actions against his brother. However, now, certain reports suggest that William, just like the rest of the royal family, is worried about Mountbatten-Windsor's mental health but is tied by duty towards the monarchy. "If anything, William was deeply concerned for his uncle's mental health and how Andrew would cope after everything was taken away," said a source to The Times.

Although the royal family members tried to support Mountbatten-Windsor, compelling evidence against him left them with limited options. "Nevertheless, William realized that while Andrew had always denied any wrongdoing, he supported his father's decision to strip Andrew of his royal titles. Kate, in turn, supported her husband in the matter," explained the source. According to royal editor Kate Mansey, "In the whole sorry saga, William was often painted as the tough guy urging his father to put his foot down. This image of ruthless William was, I'm told, wide of the mark."

In a conversation with the Daily Mail, royal expert Robert Jobson revealed that while the royal family is concerned about Mountbatten-Windsor and Fergie's mental health, they are also dreading any further allegations against the duo over the Epstein files. "This is precisely what The King and those around him, including Prince William, have been dreading," explained Jobson. The King and his advisors were disappointed and concerned over the scandal and had no other choice but to take strict actions against Mountbatten-Windsor and Fergie.

Jobson, in another interaction with The Sun, shared how the couple was under tremendous mental pressure after the Epstein scandal. "I believe even members of the Royal family who have taken action are concerned about their mental health," he added. Further detailing the gravity of the situation, he opined that the King always wanted to keep the family together, but this situation had his hands tied.

Previously, OK! also revealed how the former prince is spiralling after the scandal hit. "Andrew is now completely isolated and feels he's lost everything – his title, his home, his dignity. The family is terrified he might do something drastic. He's told people he has nothing left to live for," an insider told the outlet. He is even considering faking his own death just to evade public scrutiny. "Just disappearing, faking his death, anything to escape this nightmare," concluded the insider.
