Andrew Allegedly Spiraling and Considering 'Faking His Own Death' to Escape Epstein Fallout
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's public fall from grace remains one of the royal family's biggest disasters. Once believed to be shielded by privilege, he was stripped of his royal titles and forced to live as a commoner after new details of his controversial ties to Jeffrey Epstein surfaced. Now spending his final days holed up at Royal Lodge, he is reportedly depressed and 'isolated,' still reeling from the fallout. According to a source, Mountbatten-Windsor is even considering 'faking his own death' to escape the relentless scrutiny his actions unleashed.
Under his agreement with King Charles, Mountbatten-Windsor is expected to move into a reduced accommodation on the Sandringham estate. Commenting on his poor mental state, an insider told OK! magazine, "Andrew is now completely isolated and feels he's lost everything – his title, his home, his dignity. The family is terrified he might do something drastic. He's told people he has nothing left to live for." Another described him as 'broken and withdrawn,' saying the humiliation has reportedly pushed him to consider the unthinkable. They alleged that the disgraced royal has babbled to confidants about "just disappearing, faking his death, anything to escape this nightmare" – remarks that have allegedly created havoc within the Palace.
These details about Mountbatten-Windsor's state of mind, however, don't come as a surprise, considering he was stripped of even his princely title, a birthright. Royal watchers argue that the King's decision to banish him as a commoner was inevitable, given his commitment to duty over family. A senior royal aide spilled, "Charles has at last decided to sever ties with Andrew entirely…The public simply won't accept him continuing a life of privilege on royal property." Meanwhile, another staffer echoed, "No one can say how he'll [Andrew] manage on his own – there's real concern for his state of mind."
Watching his younger brother suffer, Charles reportedly wishes someone would spend the holiday season with him. Weighing in on his alleged Christmas 'conundrum', a source told The Sun, "No one wants to be seen with him [Andrew], and the family has pretty much given up on him. Beatrice and Eugenie are very likely to be at Sandringham, as they are very much still in the royal fold." With regards to Mountbatten-Windsor's dwindling mental state, they added, "Andrew is depressed after losing his titles and being exiled from the royal family."
Palace insiders have previously also flagged Mountbatten-Windsor's poor mental and physical health after the Epstein scandal. Like Charles, Sarah Ferguson was also allegedly concerned about her former husband's well-being, believing that 'dark forces' were working against him. An insider told The Sun, "They are both spending a lot of time alone," adding that the former Prince "rarely goes out and has been padding around the Lodge, ranting and muttering." Friends close to the Yorks suggested that much of Ferguson's fear stemmed from her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and the uncertain public position Mountbatten-Windsor now occupies.
