Andrew to Have a ‘Grinch-Like’ Last Christmas at Royal Lodge — Insiders Say It'll Be 'Humiliating'
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor's downfall saw him stripped of his titles and honors over his past ties to the disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein. The former Prince and his ex-wife were shunned by the royals and ordered to leave the Royal Lodge at the earliest. But perhaps the harshest blow has been the profound loneliness he now faces as the rest of his family comes together for the festive season. Most recently, his daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, were seen arriving at Buckingham Palace for King Charles’ pre-Christmas family lunch.
Just days earlier, Mountbatten-Windsor made his first public appearance since his downfall at the christening of his granddaughter, Athena. Now, he has become a stark cautionary tale of how poor choices can unravel a once-privileged life. The prince who once had it all is reportedly spending the holidays alone, drowning in misery. Sources also claim Mountbatten-Windsor remains at odds with his daughters, who are said to be deeply disappointed by his actions, yet still worried about his increasingly uncertain future.
As they had lunch with Charles and other senior royals, Mountbatten Windsor spent the day riding his horse, drenched to the skin as he went about in the pouring rain at Windsor Park. As per their reports, the former Duke is grappling to come to terms with his lost glory and that he's going to have a rather dull and 'humiliating' holiday season. "There is definitely an end-of-era feel; there's not much to celebrate at the moment," revealed a source.
Beatrice and Eugenie will not be visiting their parents but will spend the holidays at the Sandringham estate with Charles and the royal family. An insider further detailed how the sisters' old bedrooms are now bare. "Yet another sign of the Grinch-like mood at Royal Lodge is the absence of a staff party this year," they shared. The former Duke is utterly unhappy with everything around him and is reportedly sulking while preparing to leave the Royal Lodge.
"A Royal Household lorry has already been seen removing items to a Windsor storage facility," added a source. He is also losing multiple royal artifacts, as he has been instructed by the Royal Collection Trust. "Andrew has been told he can't take any Crown-owned treasures when he moves to his new home," the source added, as per the Daily Mail.
While his world is collapsing, Mountbatten Windsor is still not ready to accept his lost status. He is reportedly still holding on to his lost glory and insisting that the staff still address him as 'sir.' The insider stated, "He is struggling to come to terms with his loss of status. Some don't realize he still thinks he's a prince."
