Prince William and Meghan Markle Might Clash Again — and This Time Over Their Kids
Prince William recently revealed his children's hobby at their Norfolk home, which is quite similar to what Meghan Markle has said her children do at their Montecito property.
Prince William and Meghan Markle had previously locked horns - or rather scones - when the two shared a preference for a cream-first application, within hours of each other. What should have been a light-hearted debate, unfortunately, added fuel to the perpetual fire between the Wales and Sussex fandoms. And the flames may be fanned again, as the Prince of Wales recently revealed that his children did gardening at Anmer Hall in Norfolk. Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex has been very vocal about having a green thumb and introducing gardening to her kids over the past few years.
After spending a fun day at Royal Ascot, William headed to Dartington, Devon, on Thursday to visit the Apricot Centre. At the carbon-negative farm, the prince learned about farming processes and discussed regenerative farming methods with managing director Rachel Phillips. He also revealed his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis’s special hobby during the conversation. “He was quite impressed with our strawberries and was telling me in Norfolk his children grow strawberries, raspberries, and lettuce and have a small kitchen garden,” Phillips said, via HELLO!
However, one question that he asked the managing director unveiled an amusing problem he was facing with his kids in terms of gardening. “He was asking me how we grew them, and we talked about how we stop our children (from) eating them all.” Phillips added. It can be assumed that William was talking about Anmer Hall, which is a property that he and Kate Middleton still maintain in Norfolk. Although the Wales kids' kitchen garden is a new revelation, the Princess of Wales had previously revealed that Prince Louis grew broad beans in school.
On the other hand, during her Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, often spoke about her love for gardening. She and Prince Harry own a sprawling mansion in Montecito, where they have allotted ample space for gardens. She reportedly often uses her own produce to cook food. Markle has also seemingly nurtured a love for gardening in her two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. She occasionally shares pictures of the duo in the garden picking berries or flowers on her Instagram.
While speaking on the Aspire podcast with friend and Skims co-founder, Emma Grede, Markle said, “Gardening is really, really so great for children because it teaches them patience and teaches them to value and appreciate their food.” The Duchess had also said earlier that Archie and Lilibet grow “a lot of veggies” at their home in California, and even stage a “little farmer's market stand”.
The Waleses and Sussexes are not the only royals with a green thumb. King Charles is famously a staunch environmentalist and takes great pride in the gardens at Highgrove, which he reportedly has designed himself. He also loves gardening and has been outspoken about it.
