Prince Harry Reportedly 'On Standby' to Coach Sarah Ferguson for a Oprah-Style Interview
Although Prince Harry and Sarah Ferguson lead separate lives, both have been excommunicated by the royal family. While the Duke of Sussex left the Firm of his own accord, the former Duchess of York was banished due to her and her ex-husband's scandalous ties to disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein. After being forced to vacate Royal Lodge and give up her titles, reports claimed Fergie was planning a scathing tell-all for a six-figure sum. Commenting on the same, sources suggest Harry as the ideal figure to coach his aunt to take control of her narrative for the sit-down.
In an OK! magazine exclusive, insiders believe Ferguson would trust Harry, owing to their similar experiences with the royals. A source said, "She [Ferguson] has lived through decades of crises, comebacks and scandals, and she's never been shy about speaking plainly. That makes her an ideal guest – and a potential nightmare for the Palace." Another revealed that Harry was viewed as an 'unofficial broker' to guide his aunt, and ensure 'she doesn't feel overwhelmed on camera.' A senior production person added, "Harry has been through the highest-stakes interviews of the modern royal era. From a producer's standpoint, his involvement is the closest thing to a safety net for both landing her [Ferguson] as a guest and talking her through how to deliver scandalous claims about the royal family."
Moreover, sources believe, Ferguson's intriguing life and perspective could draw huge audiences if an Oprah-like interview were to be framed around her so-called 'misunderstood' past. A Palace insider spilled, "What really worries people is that once she gets going, there's no filter. She's sitting on decades of tales, and her first instinct is always to spill them." Speaking about the Duke's potential role, they added, "Harry understands the pressures of a high-stakes interview better than most. If Sarah wants advice on how to stay composed, what to avoid, or how to keep control of the narrative, he's ready to offer that."
As Ferguson's pockets reportedly run dry after being cut off by the royal family, she is allegedly keen on getting a lucrative deal to clear her conscience. A media consultant working with A-list clients told the publication, "She [Ferguson] sees a major interview as something that could either salvage what is left of her reputation or wipe it out completely. She wants the space to insist she had no part in any of it and has been treated unjustly." It is said that the former Duchess reportedly wishes to give an Oprah Winfrey-like interview, similar to Harry and Meghan Markle's sit-down after they quit royal life in 2020.
In November, it was reported that Ferguson was allegedly planning to sit down with Winfrey and talk about her infamous fall from grace. Her team had reportedly received significant bids from US channels, and was thinking about how to thread the market. Commenting on her alleged money-making tactics, a source told The Sun that she was reportedly looking forward to frankly answering the questions, as she strongly believed "she's done nothing wrong, and been harshly treated."
