New Royal Dynamics: How Prince Harry Feud Forever Altered Prince William and Kate Middleton's Marriage
Harry, Duke of Sussex, is now assigned the blame for strife in Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales' marriage due to long-running feud.
The House of Windsor has the world's longest-running "real-life soap opera," and the feud between Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, is "ratings gold."
In a recent conversation about the rift, veteran royal author Ingrid Seward shared: "William is sensitive, he likes structure and has perseverance. He does not give up easily. His relationship with brother Harry upset him more than he would care to admit. But he found it easier to cut ties rather than allow himself to be continually annoyed."
"His father got cancer and Kate had a serious abdominal operation," she added. "Later to announce she too had to have cancer treatment. William played both mother and father to the children while he carried on with his royal duties supporting the Queen in his father's absence. The traumas of the past year have made him a stronger person. He has become the kind of man Diana always hoped he would be. Kind considerate and able to take on whatever life throws at him."
The Prince of Wales recently turned 42, and numerous analysts came forward to reminisce on his life so far and how Diana would be proud of him.
But his neverending rift with his brother, his only sibling, still resonates for many observers.
"You never know what may happen," expert Richard Fitzwilliams dished when speaking about a possible end to the long-running feud. "I think it's abundantly clear that any rift is undesirable, and when individuals are ill who are involved in it, it makes it even more undesirable."
He added: "The problem with any rift is that it leads to deep mutual mistrust. Harry and Meghan were deeply unhappy as senior working members of the royal family. He believed they were due an apology for the way Meghan in particular was treated."
"Currently, no. But I look forward to... I look forward to us being able to find peace," Harry revealed in a January 2023 appearance on 60 Minutes when asked if he has spoken to William. The fifth in line to the throne further shared how it had been "a while" since his last communication with his brother, and at that time, King Charles as well.
"We haven't spoken for quite a while. No, not recently," he added. "But at the heart of it, there is a family, without question. And I really look forward to having that family element back. I look forward to having a relationship with my brother."
Insiders have shared that the two royal brothers have not spoken to one another since Queen Elizabeth II's State Funeral on September 19, 2022. Harry quickly flew to meet with his dad after the King's cancer diagnosis on February 6, where reports suggest the duo spoke anywhere from 12 minutes to one hour.
