Trigger Warning: This article contains themes of child sexual abuse that some readers may find distressing.

Sarah Ferguson has been lying low since her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was stripped of his royal titles and kicked out of his royal accommodation. His ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein have been like a black mark on the royal family’s reputation, but with every new file released by the US Department of Justice, it seems like Mountbatten-Windsor wasn’t alone in maintaining that friendship. Ferguson herself was very much embroiled with Epstein, even after he was found guilty in 2006.

New reports reveal how Fergie was in contact with the financier, even visiting him at the Florida Science Foundation, his fake business headquarters in Palm Beach, Florida, while he was serving his prison sentence. The visits happened on two separate occasions back in 2009 — the first in April and the second, a month later, in May. As reported by the Daily Mail, Ferguson was in regular contact, asking Epstein for business advice and trying to curry favor.

Many Epstein victims have come forward with allegations that the disgraced financier abused them in that very headquarters, at a time when he was supposedly serving his prison sentence. Thanks to a generous work-release program, he was permitted to leave jail for up to 12 hours a day, six days a week, to work from his office, where he was supposedly supervised by off-duty sheriffs — a setup many believe was merely a front for his continued illicit activities.

On 4 April 2009, Fergie sent an email to Epstein, which read, "Hello Jeffrey. I am landing in Palm Beach in a couple of hours. Is there any chance on my quick layover that I can have a quick cup of tea… Love Sarah, the redhead!!" After the meeting, Epstein sent Fergie an email, writing, "You look great," and telling her, "I read everything you gave me, too many pictures... not enough substance, i.e., numbers." The former Duchess reportedly tried to meet him again before their plan finally came to fruition a month later.

In May 2009, Fergie sent him another email, writing, "I am coming into Palm Beach to see you on Wednesday. I land at 9.30 am...Can your brilliant [driver] pick me up, bring me to you, the Great one!! And then take me to Miami!??? Please with roses on top!" Epstein responded in the affirmative, and the two met once again. Later emails also revealed that Fergie walked past a sheriff's deputy to meet with Epstein during one of these visits.

Similar emails between the two have previously been released by the US Department of Justice. In August 2009, Fergie wrote an email to him, thanking him for “being the brother [she] have always wished for," adding she had “never been more touched by a friend's kindness." A similar email was sent a few months later, in January 2010, in which she wrote, "You are a legend. I really don't have the words to describe my love, gratitude for your generosity, and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me."

Ferguson has not made any statement on the matter so far, stepping away from the public eye to focus on personal well-being. She is traveling globally, spending most of her time at private spas and wellness retreats to distance herself from the controversies back home in the UK.
