Meghan Markle's Latest 'As Ever' Move Involving Princess Lilibet Branded ‘Craven and Sick'
Commentator Samara Gill slams Meghan Markle’s 'craven' PR shift, accusing the Duchess of using Princess Lilibet to revive her struggling lifestyle brand.
Royal commentator Samara Gill has launched a blistering critique against Meghan Markle, accusing the Duchess of Sussex of using her children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet — as a means to salvage what she described as a failing commercial empire. During an appearance on Sky News Australia with host Andrew Bolt, she did not hold back, branding Markle’s PR maneuvers as both ‘horrible’ and ‘craven,’ suggesting that the Sussexes are increasingly desperate as they attempt to navigate their public image from California.
The discussion began by focusing on King Charles’ upcoming high-stakes trip to the United States aimed at celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence. Against the backdrop of rising friction between UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and President Donald Trump, Gill suggests that the monarch is the only person who can bridge the divide between the two nations, given his close bond with Trump. “There is one man in this universe… that Trump will actually listen to, and that is the king,” she noted, highlighting the sovereign’s ‘one job’ to repair an ‘obliterated relationship.’ The diplomatic gravity of the King’s visit, however, was soon overshadowed by the ongoing drama surrounding Markle and Prince Harry.
Gill was dismissive of any suggestion that the King would make time for a family reconciliation during his trip, firmly stating that Charles is “absolutely not in one of his more magnanimous moments” and will not “detour across and see his sort of prodigal prince.” She further added that the California-based couple “are not going to be getting in the way of potential world peace.” However, the most pointed criticism was reserved for the Duchess’s recent media strategy, in which she is seen sharing more footage of her kids, despite her calls for privacy in the past. According to the royal commentator, this is a calculated move to take the attention away from her struggling lifestyle brand, As Ever.
Gill pointed to Markle’s venture into artisanal preserves as a sign of desperation to “shift the jam which she's completely over-ordered and is fast going out of date.” The shift toward featuring her daughter — the royal commentator argued — is a cynical attempt at rebranding. “I think she is shifting her PR strategy towards the girl because that is much more marketable in the future,” she told Bolt, adding, “Lilibet is getting all the camera time on her Instagram, and I think that's craven and sick.” When Bolt questioned the literal nature of the ‘jam’ crisis, she confirmed, “Yes, that is a real thing. They have a warehouse, Netflix has said—a warehouse full of jam that they haven't been able to sell. There are credible reports on that.”
For Gill, the Duchess is leveraging “private family moments” on social media to distract from commercial stagnation. A sharp distinction is emerging between the official duties of the monarchy and the private ventures of the Sussexes. Gill notes that while King Charles is fully focused on ‘diplomatic gymnastics’ to end the ongoing heat between the US and the UK, the California-based couple remains mired in a ‘craven’ battle for relevance — one that she believes has now crossed a line by involving Archie and Lilibet in a bid for marketability.
