Meghan Markle last visited the UK in September 2022 to attend charitable engagements, and ended up staying longer for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth. While she didn't join Prince Harry on September 8 as he touched down in London for the WellChild Awards, reports speculate that she could make a surprise appearance at the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Commenting on the same, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams suggests Markle may use Harry’s Invictus Games as a ‘trump card’ to plan her UK comeback.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Fitzwilliams argued that Markle will be expected to attend the event in Birmingham. He said, "However, the Invictus Games is Meghan's trump card, and she is likely to play it ruthlessly. This involves approving moves towards 'reconciliation'. Meghan will calculate that this could lead to useful PR in Birmingham, which she rather obviously needs." Commenting also on her alleged role in the recent 'peace summit,’ he continued, "However, the so-called 'secret meeting' between King Charles' Communications Secretary and two of the Sussexes' most senior aides obviously occurred with her full backing."

Royal expert Kinsey Schofield echoed Fitzwilliam's claims and believes that Harry and Markle have made it difficult for the royals to trust them after the ‘peace summit’ leak. She told Sky News Australia, "I also think that somebody leaked this story, and I don't see the value in it [for the King]." In a conversation with royal author Tom Bower, she explained, "Despite the Sussexes saying they didn't leak the story, I do believe the Sussexes leaked the story, which goes to prove that they can't be trusted. So why would the King risk anything by meeting with Harry and Megan and have Harry and Megan or their friends discuss what happened at that meeting?"

Markle’s alleged plan to return to the UK may come with its own set of challenges. In ITV’s documentary, Tabloids on Trial, Harry candidly spoke about how her security remains a cause of concern in his home country. He said, "They are genuine concerns for me… It's one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country." A source close to the Prince also told Us Weekly that while the Duke will always be fond of his home country, he counts his wife and kids as his priority. They added, "If that means making sure they’re safe and happy in Montecito, then he supports that."

It seems that the Duchess may also be missing her husband’s home country, as she recently fondly remembered her favorite radio channel in an episode of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. While chatting with her guest, Tan France, she reminisced that she missed a radio station called Magic. She said, "My favorite station in my car is called Mom Jeans. These are throwback, great sing-alongs, you forget they existed. I love it."
