Meghan Markle Shares Rare Photos of Her Wedding with Prince Harry — and It’s as Dreamy as You’d Expect

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018 was as much about personal touches as it was about royal tradition. The couple worked hard to make the day feel like a reflection of their values and identities. Now, 7 years later, new details have emerged about their big day, thanks to a reunion between Markle and the chef who created their wedding feast, Clare Smyth.

Smyth, the first female chef in Britain to earn three Michelin stars, joined Markle in season two of With Love, Meghan, which premiered Tuesday, August 26. The two revisited memories of the Windsor reception, while sharing never-before-seen photographs and anecdotes that revealed just how much thought went into the menu and décor. Markle explained that food was central to how she and Harry wanted guests to experience their day. “We had the map where everything was sourced, we really wanted people to appreciate where every ingredient was coming from,” she recalled, as reported by PEOPLE. “I mean, that was the most delicious meal. Everyone still talks about it.”
Smyth, who runs London’s acclaimed Core by Clare Smyth, revealed that one of the dishes featured at the reception was “roast chicken with a twist,” a meal Harry and Markle cooked on the night of their engagement. That dish carried extra meaning for Markle, who had confessed she made a 'horrible' version of it while still adjusting to the quirks of British measurements.

Some of the never-before-seen photos aired in the episode included shots of Harry and Markle dancing together, a dazzling fireworks display at Frogmore House, and candid moments of the couple hand in hand in their evening reception attire. Smyth also admitted that the late-night party menu featured an unlikely dish for a Michelin-starred chef, fried chicken.
The couple’s sense of humor was also embedded in the reception setup. Markle revealed that each table was named after different transatlantic food terms— 'cilantro' for Americans, 'coriander' for Brits. Photographs shown on Netflix revealed elegantly decorated tables with cascading white flowers, crystal candlesticks, and greenery that tied back to the chapel’s floral scheme.

“It’s not really something I typically do,” the chef said. “So we had to try and create a recipe for fried chicken, and we did, and we kept it. We still do it at Core, but only as an off-menu item. Another personal detail came courtesy of Markle herself, who designed the wedding menus using her calligraphy. Smyth remembered the gesture warmly: “You did that with the menu for the wedding. You had it all, like, drawn, and it was beautiful.”
Speaking about the criticism of the first season of Markle's cooking show, Smyth reflected on her involvement with With Love, Meghan. “It’s a show that’s quite sweet and nice… It’s easygoing and lighthearted,” she said, noting she was 'not bothered' by detractors, Marie Claire reported. Markle also shared a look at her and Harry's first anniversary dinner, which they celebrated shortly after welcoming their first child, Prince Archie.
