Meghan Markle Returns to Her 'Tig' Roots in Rare Post — and This Time, It's All About Her Kids
The Duchess of Sussex revealed she has been flipping through a poetry collection about motherhood.
Right from her Tig days, Meghan Markle has loved to share her book recommendations with her followers. On Instagram, Markle recently went back to the same practice, sharing her latest read. The former actress, who returned to social media in January last year, has kept her family life largely private. However, recently she offered a rare glimpse into her Montecito home through a bunch of candid home videos.
Markle could be seen arranging flowers, much to the admiration of Prince Harry, caring for her precious chickens with Princess Lilibet, and flipping through what she shared was her 'current bedside book.' The 44-year-old had shared a video that zoomed in on a poem, The Mental Load from the said book.
The Instagram story caught the eye of British author Jessica Urlichs, as it was from her own poetry collection, They Bloom Because of You, which revolved around “the infinite love, growth, and magic of motherhood.” And based on the multiple dog-eared pages, it could be assumed that the Duchess of Sussex was greatly enjoying reading through the poems.
Love supreme. 😍

Naturally, Urlichs posted a reel on her page, sharing her excitement about the surprise shout-out. “When @meghan the Duchess of Sussex shares your book, you go into shock, you share, and you celebrate 😭❤️ I’m so honored, beyond words. I love how this book is touching so many mums around the world! What a huge moment x,” the author wrote in the caption.
Her book’s cameo in Markle’s stories may have been a big surprise for the author. But a bigger surprise still awaited her.
A comment from the Duchess of Sussex herself!
Despite having a strong social media presence, she rarely comments on anyone’s Instagram posts. However, she made an exception this time. Maybe it was Urlichs’ excitement or her genuine love for her poems, but the Duchess took to the author’s comment section to tell her that the poetry collection was her 'current bedside book.' “My mom friend, Christina, shared it with me. My current bedside book. From one mama to another - thank you x ❤️” she commented.
As for Markle's relentless focus on motherhood, it is a side well-known to royal watchers and evident in her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. She often shared some tidbits from her day with her children and the viewers. From making sun tea with Prince Archie to picking out fruits from their garden with Lilibet, the Duchess always seemed to have her hands full with joyful endeavors.
On the 4th of July last year, Markle had shared a picture of cupcakes with red, white, and blue frosting, mentioning in the caption that it was a sweet nod to Harry bringing her cupcakes on their second date that coincided with Independence Day, all the way back in 2016. And now, almost a decade later, their two children were 'in on the tradition.'
