Meghan Markle Posts Cryptic Message on Camilla’s 78th Birthday — Sparks Reconciliation Rumors

Meghan Markle may have just sent Queen Camilla a potential olive branch on her 78th birthday. On July 17, Markle shared a 'cryptic' post on social media that is widely believed to be directed toward her stepmother-in-law. According to the Daily Express, the Duchess shared a video of her opening a box of her latest Napa Valley Rosé from her lifestyle brand, As Ever.

Sharing the clip on her Instagram stories, the mother of two penned, “Sending birthday love (both near and far) to my ladies.” Markle, having not tagged anyone in the post, and the mention of the word 'far' is what caught the attention of royal watchers, who argued she was referring to someone, perhaps across the pond, in the UK. Additionally, online sleuths noted how Markle is known to have shared a connection with Camilla in the early days of her royal life, with both women bonding over their love for wine and yoga. This has them convinced that a box of Markle's own wine would have been the perfect birthday gift for Camilla.
However, what makes the move surprising is the strained relationship between her husband, Prince Harry, and Camilla. The Duke had previously revealed in his memoir Spare how he urged his father, King Charles, not to marry Camilla. He even dubbed his stepmother ‘dangerous’ in the bombshell book, claiming she threw him under the bus with the press to rehabilitate her own public image. But it's important to note that Markle’s cryptic message follows Harry and Charles’s respective aides having recently met in a private meeting in London, which may lead to a potential reunion.

Meanwhile, others remained unconvinced as they noted that this wasn't the first time Markle had used the phrase ‘near and far’ in her posts on social media. On the occasion of her and the Duke of Sussex’s seventh wedding anniversary, the Suits alum used a similar phrase to thank her loved ones. She captioned the post, “Seven years of marriage. A lifetime of stories. Thanks to all of you (whether by our side or from afar) who have loved and supported us throughout our love story. We appreciate you. Happy anniversary!” Netizens hence argued the Duchess was perhaps referring to her close ones.

In two years, the Queen will celebrate her milestone 80th birthday, which is already in discussion as it will coincide with Harry’s potential return to the UK for the 2027 Invictus Games, scheduled to be held in Birmingham. According to OK! magazine, a former Buckingham Palace officer, Dickie Arbiter, believes Charles would use Camilla’s birthday celebration as an excuse to skip the event. Arbiter said, “There is precedent. No royals went to the 10th anniversary at St. Paul's Cathedral last year. Harry came; we're led to believe there were soft invites, but the royals said they were busy. Camilla's birthday also falls during Invictus. So yes, they have excuses.” However, he also noted that the monarch’s presence at the sporting event would be important as it involves military veterans.
