Meghan Markle, who has lately been using her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, to share details of her motherhood journey, got candid again about her parenting strategy. The Duchess revealed how being a mother helps her work better. In a recent interview with Fast Company, she claimed that her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have helped her become a better ‘boss’ at work.
In the interview, Markle discussed a new milestone in her six-year-old’s life — Archie losing his first tooth. She revealed how she played the tooth fairy and left some cash and a small dinosaur under his pillow. Archie allegedly didn't wait till the morning to find his gifts and woke Markle up at 2 am to share the news. Markle claimed that despite having a busy schedule the next day, she made sure to cuddle Archie. She said, “I had a lot of business meetings the next morning, but I still chose to cuddle with him the rest of the night...Those mom moments energise me to be a better founder, a better employer, a better boss.”
Markle had been waiting for Archie’s first tooth to fall out for quite a while. During her appearance at the TIME100 Summit in New York in April, she said the loose tooth was due to fall out ‘this week’ and hoped she would be able to get ‘back home in time for it.’
On various occasions, the Duchess has expressed how grateful she is to be able to spend time with her kids. On the second episode of her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, Markle taught viewers how to make a rainbow fruit salad and said, “It’s a real delight in being able to be a present parent, and it’s a luxury sometimes, because we all have to work. We all have a lot of stuff to do, but when you can take a minute to just…” As per Yahoo! Life, noting it was a Saturday morning, she added, “Finding the fun in those moments makes for a really sweet start to the weekend.”
Markle, who loves to balance work and family, has also shared the benefits of working from home. On her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, she said, “We became moms in the pandemic, post-pandemic culture where there is so much working from home...I don't leave the house to go to an office, my office is here.” Markle stressed that, despite her work, she is always there for her daughter when the latter wakes up from her nap. She concluded, “I don't want to miss those moments. I don't want to miss the pick-up if I don't have to. I don't want to miss drop-off.”
