Meghan Markle Anxious as Harry Plans UK Return — But It's Not Security That's Keeping Her Up at Night
Meghan Markle is reportedly worried Prince Harry's upcoming UK return could reopen old wounds and reignite royal tensions.
While Prince Harry’s upcoming travel to the UK continues to dominate headlines, sources indicate he won't be traveling alone. As per the BBC, Harry will be accompanied by Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet. Yet, despite the family reunion, insiders note that Markle is deeply concerned about the trip, worried it may resurface past grievances stemming from their complex history with the firm.
Set for this July, the trip is reportedly connected to a countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. However, Prince Harry is expected to have company this time, with reports suggesting that Meghan Markle, Archie, and Lilibet will join him for the children's first visit to the UK in four years. The family's return has also sparked renewed speculation of a potential reunion between Harry and King Charles.
Yet, while Harry is reportedly delighted at the prospect of bringing his family home, Meghan remains highly apprehensive. According to sources, she is concerned that the visit could resurface painful emotions for Harry, particularly in light of his past comments about missing Britain. Additionally, she is stressed over the continued strain that his fractured relationship with the monarchy has placed on his well-being.
Furthermore, the Duchess’s concerns go beyond the visit itself. She fears that returning to Britain may bring back memories of Harry’s former life and strengthen old connections. According to the insiders, she is also concerned that some people within royal circles could use this opportunity to influence or encourage him to rebuild closer ties with the institution he once left behind.
One insider claimed (via International Business Times UK) that Markle feels that both the British public and people in the royal circle "want to poison Harry against her, and she's very aware that he has been dealing with a bad case of homesickness for a while now." The source added that the trip could become a particularly tense experience for the Duchess of Sussex, and there will be “no end of stress” for her.
If the visit goes as planned, it won't just be a milestone for the children—it will also mark Meghan's first time back in Britain in nearly four years. Her last visit was in September 2022, when she joined Harry and the rest of the royal family for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. Since then, the Duchess has remained in California with Archie and Lilibet, while Harry has crossed the Atlantic alone for various legal battles, charity events, and family obligations.
