Meghan Has ‘No Affection’ for UK as Expert Claims Her Return Would Be ‘Huge Test’ for the Couple

While Prince Harry wishes to reunite with the royal family, Meghan Markle remains focused on prioritizing her family and business.

Following a positive development after years of battling to reinstate his UK security, Prince Harry is reportedly eager to build bridges with the royal family. Meghan Markle, however, appears less than thrilled, instead prioritizing her family life and expanding her business in the US. Commenting on their apparent differences, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams suggested their 'divided priorities' could become the Sussexes' greatest challenge in 2026, cautioning that a potential return to the UK could prove to be a 'complete catastrophe.'

In a conversation with The Mirror, Fitzwilliams opined that Harry and Markle reportedly appear to have deeply divided needs and priorities at the moment. He said, "I can't see how Harry would fit into the As Ever lifestyle and cookery world, and Meghan has no affection for Britain, so there's a clear difference there. Harry needs something more substantial in his activities than looking on and waving from behind Meghan." He also believed that while the Sussexes seemed emotionally committed to each other, the outside noise and goings on around them as a couple were deafening at times.

Moreover, the royal expert pointed out that Markle's public ratings in the UK are poor, at 22% according to YouGov's most recent poll. While stressing that the couple remain "in love and committed to their marriage," he noted that they are on very different pages when it comes to Britain, a country the Duke has said he "proudly served and fought for." Fitzwilliams explained that if Harry is eager to return to the UK and even bring their children with him, without Markle's approval, it could intensify existing strains, "and her coming back could be a complete catastrophe, depending on how they managed it."

To argue his case, Fitzwilliams continued, "The polls indicate that Meghan is largely detested by the public, so how would she handle that fierce hostility? It would be a huge test for both her and the Sussexes as a couple." However, he stressed that it would take an 'earthquake of an event' for the couple to divorce. He explained that, given everything they have done and said, along with the way they have distanced themselves from other family members, the resulting loss of reputation would be immense.

Earlier, Fitzwilliams had also claimed that Markle's lack of affection for Britain could derail her reunion with King Charles. Speaking to GB News, he revealed that while Harry's potential security win could 'open the door' to a UK return, Markle's reputation among the UK public was 'terrible.' He said, "Then there is the case that she does not appear to have any affection for Britain." Explaining how a meetup with the King would not be as simple, he added, "I cannot see Meghan coming to Britain before the Invictus Games because what would she do and why would she come? It is not going to be as simple as turning up and seeing King Charles."
