Latest Photos of Beatrice Have Experts Convinced Her and Eugenie's Titles Should Be Stripped
After Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson's fall from grace, one would assume that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie would be treading on eggshells. Although not working royals, the sisters still retain their HRH titles and are expected to uphold the monarchy's image. Yet, it appears they haven't learnt their lesson, as Beatrice was recently spotted hosting an afternoon tea party in Riyadh, mingling with the uber-rich, just like her disgraced dad. After photos from the event went viral, royal commentator Amanda Platell called for Beatrice and Eugenie's titles to be stripped.
Photos published by the Daily Mail showed Beatrice on her phone at the prestigious Riyadh Ritz-Carlton hotel. The afternoon party was hosted on October 27, as per the invitation card. Beatrice was one of the star turnouts for the Future Investment Initiative, where she rubbed shoulders with some of the world's wealthiest. Weighing in on the same, Platell argued that the 'optics' don't look good, considering the very public downfall of her parents over shady business dealings in the Middle East and their controversial ties to America's elites.
Arguing her case, Platell penned, "As Beatrice should know from the fate of her parents, you can't immerse yourself in the world of high finance one day and then represent the royal family the next, especially at a time of existential crisis for the monarchy." The expert was also not too happy, considering that the Ritz Carlton is notorious for being central to the Arab state's crackdown in 2017, when hundreds of powerful royals, tycoons, and ministers were detained. She continued, "After Andrew and Fergie gave up their royal titles last month, I wrote that the King should also strip his nieces, Beatrice and Eugenie, of their HRHs to complete the cleansing process and that they should 'completely disappear from royal life.'"
Unsurprisingly, sister Eugenie has also visited Saudi Arabia many times, even after the scathing revelations about her father's shady ties in the Middle East surfaced. Most recently, in 2025, she travelled to Jeddah in January to attend the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025. She had also accompanied her sister to Saudi Arabia in 2024, specifically to Riyadh, for an event called the Open Forum: Meet the 21st Century Entrepreneurs, part of the World Economic Forum. Commenting on the trips, Platell slammed, "If Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie – who have also made several visits to the region – want to continue courting interests in the Middle East, they should not use their royal titles."
The tea party is also interesting when one considers reports from 2008, which claimed that the then 19-year-old was being prepped for such a role when Mountbatten Windsor took her on a 14-day tour of Abu Dhabi and Egypt. In 2011, it was reported that she was given expensive pieces of jewelry on another trip to Abu Dhabi with her father. So far, the York sisters' titles remain secure, as King Charles allegedly pities their situation and does not wish to punish them for their parents' missteps.
