King Charles’s Declining Health at Recent Outing ‘Horrifies’ Expert: ‘The Man’s Suit Is Falling Off'
King Charles has not had an easy reign, having been diagnosed with cancer in February last year. Temporary side effects from his treatment also led to a brief hospitalization, which sparked widespread concern about his well-being. While the monarch continues to carry out public duties, his recent appearance in support of the COP30 Summit wasn't very reassuring. After photos from the event surfaced, royal expert Tom Sykes shared that he was ‘horrified’ by Charles’s visibly ‘frail’ health.
On The Royalist’s Substack, Sykes penned, "I was horrified by photographs that have emerged in the last few hours of the King at a joint engagement with his son, the Prince of Wales, in London for the COP30 climate summit." Highlighting the monarch’s weight loss, possibly from his ill health and treatment, he continued, "It’s impossible to look at these images without seeing how much King Charles’s health has declined. The man’s suit is falling off him."
Sykes also argued that talking about Charles’s declining health is important, as his life and possible death were ‘a legitimate matter of public interest.’ He opined, "Charles has told us he has cancer, and his aides have admitted it is incurable; it is frankly an insult to intelligence to try and suppress reporting of it." He stressed that the King’s ‘mortality and condition’ is the key to understanding everything that may have been happening in the royal family: "Harry’s urgency to reconcile, William’s resistance to that reconciliation, the tension between the brothers over how their father’s legacy will be managed."
Last month, a source had argued the same, claiming that William and Harry would reconcile soon due to their father's declining health. They told Parade magazine, "King Charles’ health has been deteriorating more and more. It wouldn’t be surprising if Prince William and Prince Harry reconnected a bit more over this. This could be the thing that pushes it to happen."
While sources and experts continue to express concern over Charles’s health, the monarch has stood steady in his commitment to royal duties. At the Countdown to COP30 Summit event at the Natural History Museum, William and Charles, both long-time environmental advocates, united to spotlight glaring climate challenges and promote innovative solutions. The event featured exhibitions on Charles’s 50-year environmental activism and William’s Earthshot Prize initiative. Guests were treated to several films emphasizing the imperative nature of environmentalism.
After the successful event, the Prince of Wales is set to head to Brazil to attend the Earthshot Awards and the COP30 World Leaders Summit in Belém in November, representing his father. Reflecting on the significance of their recent outing, Sykes added, "This one — marking the handover to William, who will attend the summit in Brazil later this year on his father’s behalf — was an important way of symbolizing son and heir’s unanimity on the climate issue."
