King Charles ‘Turning a Corner’ With Prince Harry for the Sake of the Monarchy’s Future
After years of estrangement, the coming months may narrow the gap between Prince Harry and King Charles. Those close to the monarch suggest that he is now ready to set his issues aside to mark 2026 on a good note. Described by many as a defining year for the monarchy, the King is said to be tackling the matter with a renewed sense of purpose. As Harry is expected to be back in the UK for the 2027 Invictus Games taking place in Birmingham, Charles is all set to be ‘turning a corner’ after years of fractured relationships and bombshell revelations. This would work out perfectly for Harry as well, with reports previously suggesting he would ‘love’ to spend more time with his father. Charles, however, is said to be taking the lead this time.
Harry and Charles met each other in September 2025 at Clarence House, which turned out to be a defining moment between the two. Soon, the Duke suggested that he was ‘closer’ to bringing his family back to the UK, something he had previously resisted, owing to his security concerns. Along the same lines, an insider suggests that recent months have marked a subtle shift for the father-son duo. Speaking to The Mirror US, they said, “After a tough few years, it looks like they are turning a corner with Prince Harry planning to spend more time with his father.” The source continued, “Now, with Prince Harry coming over for the Invictus Games and with the King supporting him, they are beginning to move forward.”
As per the insider, people have noticed that King Charles “has got the spring back in his step,” which many find reassuring. Calling it one of the “most important year for the Royal Family,” the source suggested that despite the urgency of the matter, Harry and Charles are taking ‘baby steps.’ “No one realized the toll all of the feuding has put on King Charles; he wants nothing more than for his family to be united,” they told the outlet. Previously, it was reported that the monarch’s Christmas wish over the years was that the Duke of Sussex return to the UK, along with his kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
It's been years since the monarch last saw his grandchildren and allegedly wishes to spend more time with them. These wishes were further escalated by his cancer diagnosis, with the source noting, “King Charles has expressed his desire to see his grandchildren - there's nothing that would bring him more joy than to have all of them reunited together. There's no better time to bring families together.” The 41-year-old Prince is also said to share the same sentiment.
Harry may bring his family back to his homeland this summer for the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, provided his security concerns are resolved. Supporting this possibility, royal author Richard Fitzwilliams told The Express, “It is a chance to push the cause of reconciliation in the lead-up to Invictus 2027 in Birmingham. There is little doubt they will get the security they want,” also adding that Charles would clearly love to embrace Archie and Lilibet. Although neither the Sussexes nor Buckingham Palace has confirmed these reports, leaving the prospect of a royal reunion in a state of uncertainty.
