King Charles Reportedly Steps In to Fund Security for Harry and Meghan’s UK Return: Source
One royal author had previously alleged that Harry was reportedly blackmailing the King.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are visiting the UK with their children, marking Markle's first trip in nearly four years. Their return tour aims to celebrate the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, primarily focused on Harry's initiative for wounded veterans. Additionally, it seeks to mend family relationships with an emotional father-son reunion on the cards. It had been reported that King Charles had allegedly removed the couple's wedding picture from his Highgrove residence and also approved the extensive renovation of the Sussexes' Frogmore Cottage to remove all their traces. However, as per The Sun, King Charles has apparently taken up an important initiative to make sure the ex-royals are well received when they arrive.
In an unexpected move, Charles has reportedly offered assistance with security arrangements for an upcoming five-day trip, while the Home Office has approved taxpayer-funded, round-the-clock armed police protection for the visit next month. The couple's security arrangements have not changed as a result of an assessment of their threat level. But according to reports, the King is giving them the means to bring their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the first time in four years. Harry had lost a lawsuit against the Home Office last year over his security downgrade, claiming it was dangerous to bring his family to the UK. However, there has been no official confirmation or news from Buckingham Palace. This is not the first time King Charles has come as a saviour for non-working royals. He has recently received heavy backlash for paying the rent for the royal residences occupied by the York sisters and also helping out his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, when it came to renovating Marsh Farm, a 5-bedroom property located on his private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
Affirming Charles emotional fears over security, royal commentator Tom Bowers had previously highlighted that Prince Harry is ‘using’ his children to gain entry into the royal fold, Express UK reported. "I don't think the King is that desperate to meet Archie and Lili - that's what Harry would like to believe, but the King's got other concerns. As much as it's wonderful to be a grandfather, I can also tell you that if your son is causing you problems, you're not going to import even more problems. [And] Harry's presence in Britain is always a problem," Bowers noted while appearing on the Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered podcast. "This is now Harry trying to play the last roll of the dice," he added. "It's emotional blackmail."
Meanwhile, Royal expert Jennie Bond also stated to The Sun that the decision represents an “extraordinary turn of events,” raising the significant question of whether the King will meet his grandchildren, whom he hasn't seen in four years. Bond expressed disbelief that the King might not find time in his schedule, suggesting that a meeting could potentially help mend family feuds. Last year, Harry had the chance to showcase photos and videos of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to his father during their hour-long meeting at Clarence House, as per SkyNews Australia. Now, it is to be seen whether the Sussex children will have a direct meeting with their beloved grandfather.
