Harry Will Defend Meghan ‘To the End of the Earth’ as New Claims Leave Him ‘Incandescent’
Royal author Tom Bower has released a new book with scathing claims, which the Sussexes accused of spreading bogus conspiracies.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle endured immense criticism during their time in the royal family. Even after stepping down as senior royals, the scrutiny refused to quell, despite their pleas for privacy. Most recently, royal author Tom Bower released a new book with scathing claims against Markle, which the Sussexes accused of spreading bogus conspiracies. Commenting on the same, royal expert Jennie Bond believes Harry will go to any lengths to defend his wife, especially against misogynistic allegations maligning her character.
Bower's book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, details Markle's alleged penchant for fame and her tensions within the royal household. Shortly after The Times published serialized excerpts of the biography, Harry and Markle's spokesperson told PEOPLE, "Mr. Bower's commentary has long crossed the line from criticism into fixation. This is someone who has publicly stated, 'The monarchy in fact depends on actually obliterating the Sussexes from our state of life,' language that speaks for itself." They continued, "Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those seeking deranged conspiracy and melodrama know exactly where to find him."
In light of the recent statement, royal expert Jennie Bond told The Mirror how the Sussexes, who rarely respond to such allegations, have broken their silence in a display of unity. She said, "This time the pushback has been both swift and blistering. Their [Harry and Markle's] spokesperson accused Bower of 'deranged conspiracy and melodrama.'" She explained how the biography targeted the Duke's two great passions: his wife and the Invictus Games, allegedly leaving him furious. She added, "The suggestion that Meghan wanted to use the Games as her 'global stage' and that she was viewed as 'bling' and a distraction from the injured veterans will have left Harry incandescent."
To add insult to injury, Bower also mentioned that Queen Camilla had allegedly told her friend that Markle had brainwashed Harry. Sharing her thoughts on this revelation, Bond opined, "For Harry, any attack on his wife is treason and provokes a visceral response: he will defend her [Markle] to the end of the earth…The trouble is that his reignited fury and this new spotlight on all that has gone wrong over the past few years have the potential to open up fresh wounds." She also suggested that the ensuing drama might hamper Harry's chances of reuniting with King Charles during the 2027 Invictus Games.
In his new book, Bower makes several allegations about Markle that paint her in a bad light. He alleged that the 2025 Invictus Games were more about her public appearances than empowering injured veterans. He also raised doubts about some competitors' injuries, claiming that participants were actually dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder rather than visible physical wounds. Responding to the narratives, a spokesperson for the Invictus Games asserted, "It is disappointing to see The Times give prominence to commentary that appears driven by a long-established agenda rather than a genuine understanding of the Invictus Games and the community it supports."
