Author Says Fergie’s Happy Photos With Daughters Were ‘Staged’ — Calls Out Her ‘Perfect Mom’ Image
Sarah Ferguson was dragged into the court of public opinion after her scandalous ties to Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced. Though critics questioned her associations, many still believe she has always done one thing right, i.e., being an excellent mother to her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. However, royal author Andrew Lownie argues Fergie's much-touted 'global mother' persona is little more than a facade. In his book, he alleged she deliberately staged photo-ops with Beatrice and Eugenie to project the image of a devoted mom.
Several sources who spoke to Lownie revealed that Ferguson's heralded motherly persona was more choreography than genuine hands-on devotion. In Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the Yorks, he detailed insider accounts alleging that the former Duchess struggled to manage Beatrice and Eugenie's 'awful' behavior, conveniently handing them over to nannies when things became too much. He noted that while Fergie undoubtedly took 'pride' in raising her daughters, protection officers observed a shift in the girls' behavior whenever her 'chaotic' energy entered the room. Moreover, classmates from Eugenie's Marlborough College claimed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Ferguson rarely attended her school events.
The royal author further stressed that because glamorous magazine spreads commanded six-figure fees, Ferguson's photos with her daughters were 'completely staged from beginning to end.' Behind the scenes, nannies reportedly hovered just out of frame, ready to whisk the girls away the moment the shots were taken. At public events, Fergie would allegedly clutch Beatrice and Eugenie's hands for the waiting cameras, only to pass them straight back to their minder once the flashes stopped. Additionally, Lownie suggested that her fixation on motherhood stemmed from her painful childhood, after her mother left to pursue a relationship with another man in Argentina.
Indeed, as Lownie claimed, the former Duchess has tooted her own horn about being an amazing mother. According to the Daily Mail, in a 2011 interview, she proclaimed that she was 'the best mum [she] knew.' She had added that being a good parent was the one thing in her life she had done '100 per cent right' and that when the public questions her about her 'brand identity' she answers that she is a 'global mother.'
Considering Ferguson's alleged shoddy parenting, Lownie revealed that it comes as no surprise that Beatrice and Eugenie are as entitled as her. In his book, he alleged an ex-staffer told him, "Every night she [Ferguson] demands a whole side of beef, a leg of lamb, and a chicken, which are laid out on the dining room table like a medieval banquet." The aide stressed that the feast was only made for Ferguson, Beatrice, and Eugenie, and most of which was callously thrown away the next day.
