Andrew Slammed For Guilt Tripping Beatrice and Eugenie For Going to King's Christmas Lunch
King Charles’s annual pre-Christmas lunch is usually a carefully planned display of unity and tradition. This year, however, the message was just as loud in who is missing as who arrived smiling through the gates. Amid the festive cheer, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was notably absent from the big family gathering, barred after his Epstein scandal. While his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, gathered under one roof with other royals, the former Prince spent the day alone, drenched in the rain. And according to a body language expert, his ‘solemn and gloomy’ appearance was a deliberate strategy to guilt-trip his daughters.
The contrast was clear as day as the York sisters were photographed heading to the annual lunch together, relaxed and all smiles. Speaking to The Mirror, Judi James argued the optics were anything but accidental. She observed that the former Prince’s appearance later that day appeared designed to underline his isolation. “Teeth gritted and eyes fixed ahead to suggest a determination to soldier on here, despite the rain that is equally determined to make him look like a sodden figure of solitary dejection on his horse,” James explained.
Mountbatten-Windsor was photographed horseback riding through Windsor Great Park under gloomy skies. Given the timing, the image immediately drew commentary for its symbolism. James described his demeanor as stark and joyless, noting, “His features show no sign of riding pleasure or exhilaration here; he just sits in the saddle looking solemn and gloomy.”
James further noted, “Andrew's appearance could hardly be more designed to create a total visual contrast to that of his grinning, chuckling daughters, cocooned in the warmth of their car as they drove off to a joyful-looking family Christmas that he would apparently not be attending.” She added that if someone wished to avoid making loved ones feel guilty, “you might normally wave them off cheerily while cuddling up in front of a TV movie with Deliveroo on speed dial.” Instead, the former Prince’s rain-drenched solitude projected a message of 'look what I have been reduced to.'
For his daughters, the message may have been impossible to miss. King Charles, however, has shown no inclination to blur boundaries when it comes to his younger brother. As he prepares to leave Royal Lodge and shift to a smaller property on the Sandringham Estate, the disgraced royal's isolation appears increasingly permanent. Meanwhile, Beatrice and Eugenie continue to attend royal events at their discretion, a clear indication that their father’s ‘alleged sins’ do not define their place in the family. While the 65-year-old's horseback ride may have been intended to stir sympathy, the outcome has remained largely unchanged.
