Andrew Pushing for Taxpayer-Funded Security After Recent Scary Incident: Report
Sources close to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor argue that his high-profile controversies have made him a target for fixated individuals.
After years of controversy surrounding his contentious ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has now shifted to Marsh Farm, leading a life of isolation far away from the royal spotlight — yet this new chapter is proving far from peaceful. Having vacated Royal Lodge earlier this year after losing his titles and security, he now faces fresh turmoil. Reports indicate that the former Duke was recently confronted by a balaclava-clad man near his new Norfolk residence while he was allegedly walking his dogs, leading him to push for taxpayer-funded security for himself.
The frightening incident occurred on Wednesday evening, when a masked man, reportedly carrying a crowbar, approached the former Duke of York. As reported by The Telegraph, the man was initially sitting in his car in a separate lane. Still, when he saw Mountbatten-Windsor, he stepped out and approached him, shouting and acting unusually. Very soon, officers from Norfolk Constabulary arrived at the scene before arresting the suspect named Alex Jenkinson and taking him for questioning. However, it's worth noting that, on Friday, the man denied using any kind of threatening, abusive, or insulting language or behavior towards the ex-Duke and even pleaded not guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Although the former Prince was not physically harmed, the incident is believed to have deeply scared him, and those close to him say that the alleged attack has once again raised serious concerns about his personal security.
One source close to Mountbatten-Windsor said, “Even though Andrew is no longer a working member of the Royal Family, the threat to his personal safety is greater than ever. In fact, it could be argued that he is actually more at risk, not only from a potential terror attack but also from individuals who have become fixated due to all of the coverage he has attracted over recent years." They continued, “This incident clearly demonstrates why his security provisions need to be appropriate for someone with such a high profile. There should be a review, which gives proper consideration to Andrew in the light of what has happened.”
Unlike Windsor, where royal residences are protected by strict security, the Norfolk property is far more accessible to the public. This leaves the former duke with significantly less protection than he previously had when he was still a working royal. Meanwhile, previously in April, a man and woman were reportedly spotted climbing the outer gates of Marsh Farm before standing on wooden barricades to look over the fence surrounding his property. The pair, however, quickly left the area after the disgraced royal’s security team intervened.
