Andrew Pictured Barefoot and in a Bathrobe With Epstein in Newly Unearthed Photo
A 1999 photo of Andrew and Epstein at Martha’s Vineyard surfaces, challenging the former Duke of York's past denials.
Jeffrey Epstein’s ties to the monarchy are under fresh scrutiny, thanks to a newly unearthed photo that captures Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at the center of the disgraced financier’s inner circle. In one image released by the US Department of Justice, the former Duke is seen barefoot in a white bathrobe, lounging at a wooden table alongside Epstein and British diplomat Peter Mandelson. The casual setting — complete with a set of American flag mugs — suggests a level of closeness that sits uncomfortably alongside his past public denials.
The photograph, likely taken around 1999 during a Martha’s Vineyard getaway, surfaces just as Mountbatten-Windsor faces his most severe legal fallout yet. Following his February 19 arrest — on his 66th birthday — on suspicion of misconduct in public office, the image has become a visual anchor for investigators. The ongoing probe is now focused on whether the former Duke used his official trade role to benefit Epstein, with correspondence suggesting that he funneled confidential reports to the financier within seconds of receiving them, turning the scandal into a full-blown criminal inquiry. When Fox News Digital reached out for comment, even Buckingham Palace maintained a firm silence, stating that since the former Prince is no longer a working royal, they do not speak on his behalf.
As the Department of Justice continues to make new disclosures, British authorities are intensifying their own probes—specifically into how the former Prince’s lifestyle may have intersected with Epstein’s operations. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that they are now scrutinizing whether London-area airports, including Heathrow and Biggin Hill, were used to facilitate the disgraced financier’s network. In a statement, the MET revealed that they are also digging into the actions of the security detail tasked with guarding Mountbatten-Windsor, stating, “The MET is identifying and contacting former and serving officers who may have worked closely, in a protection capacity, with Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor.”
The statement adds that officers “have been asked to consider carefully whether anything they saw or heard during that period of service may be relevant to our ongoing reviews and to share any information that could assist us.” Investigators maintain that the probe will follow the evidence regardless of the suspect’s status — insisting that no one is above the law. “While we are aware of the extensive media reporting and commentary about this matter… All allegations will be taken seriously and, as with any matter, any information received will be assessed and investigated where appropriate,” the MET highlighted.
While Mountbatten-Windsor’s public defense in his 2019 Newsnight interview rested on the fact that he cut all contact with Epstein after 2010, the 1999 photo and 2011 email records paint a different picture. Now, stripped of his titles and honors, the ex-Duke is facing the harsh reality that he is no longer shielded by the royal safety net he was once entitled to. With more Epstein files on the horizon, his barefoot image at the Vineyard alongside Mandelson and Epstein may not be the end of his nightmare.
