Andrew and Sarah’s Reputation Is ‘In the Dust’ After Release of New Epstein Files
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson are facing a fresh storm of scrutiny that may finally end their chances of ever making a comeback. Royal author Andrew Lownie has suggested that the former Duke and Duchess of York have reached the point of no return, especially after a new wave of documents was released by the US Department of Justice. Lownie, who has written extensively on the House of York, highlighted recently that the former couple’s habitual dishonesty has finally caught up with them, suggesting that Mountbatten-Windsor and Ferguson’s reputations are ‘absolutely in the dust.’
In a blistering assessment shared with the Daily Mail, Lownie claimed that the Yorks have cultivated a culture of deception that permeates even the most trivial matters. "You can't believe a single word either Andrew or Sarah Ferguson says, and I learned that over my four years of research," the royal author stated. He continued, "They lie even about things they don't need to lie about. So, I'm afraid their reputations are absolutely in the dust. Neither of them can ever recover from what's been emerging." This pattern of behavior, as per Lownie, isn’t just a defense mechanism against recent controversies but a lifelong trait.
The core of the current crisis remains in the former Duke’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Lownie claims that the disgraced financier used Mountbatten-Windsor to gain proximity to other members of the family, especially the late Queen. "Epstein got very close to the Royal Family, and he was using Andrew to get to [Queen Elizabeth]," the author told the outlet. He also highlighted, "I think Epstein thought that he could be doing business things for the Queen." Most controversially, Lownie believes the wider Royal Family may have been more aware of these connections than previously admitted. “I have no doubt that the members of the Royal Family probably met Epstein, that hasn't emerged yet. The family were helping Andrew, whether inadvertently or advertently, knowing who the people were,” Lownie claimed.
With the release of further Epstein-related files and the firm hand of King Charles tightening the purse strings, the path forward for the Yorks looks increasingly bleak. As per Lownie, Mountbatten-Windsor and Ferguson’s royal protection has finally run out of steam, with the former Duke knowing much more about the disgraced financier than he has let on. "Andrew was very integral to the whole operation," the royal author said. "He would have seen everything, he would have known an awful lot. " Lownie also argued that the recent revelations are only a 'small percentage' of the material the Department of Justice has collected, warning that the worst is yet to come. “There's also more material with the Epstein estate, which they could release if they wished to,” Lownie opined.
Royal expert Tom Bower also detailed his thoughts on the matter, suggesting that the latest batch of Epstein documents was ‘devastating. ' Bower then hailed Charles’ decision to strip his brother of his remaining titles, adding, “It's utterly devastating, and thank God the King stripped him of his titles and isolated him.”
