5 TV Cameos by Prince William and Princess Kate That Showed Their Playful Side

Royal life is usually all about protocol, near-perfect appearances, and knowing exactly what to say. But every now and then, Prince William and Princess Kate like to let loose and have a little fun. Over the years, the pair have shown their playful side through TV cameos. Some of their most memorable moments have happened when they looked like royals the least.

William made a surprise appearance on Dancing With the Stars in November 2025, popping in via video call to send Robert Irwin and his dance partner Witney Carson a message. He wished them luck before turning his attention to Irwin, whom he called “twinkle toes” and then joked that Witney should put him in as much glitter as possible.

Kate got into the spirit of things when she appeared on Blue Peter in 2019. She joined a group of children for pond dipping and den building, and things got a little competitive when it came time to build the best den. Her team won, and the Princess of Wales celebrated with a very enthusiastic “woo” and double thumbs-up. It was an adorable little moment that showed she can be just as competitive and silly as anyone else.

Kate has been playing the piano since she was a child, so her surprise Eurovision cameo in 2023 was not a big surprise. She had picked the instrument back up during lockdown and had already played alongside Tom Walker at her 2021 Christmas carol service. Two years later, she sat at the piano again for Eurovision, joining Ukrainian musicians in the show's opening film. Not bad for a hobby she picked up as a kid.

William had some fun banter with Kaleb Cooper when he appeared on Clarkson’s Farm in 2025. When the royal and the telly star first met, Kaleb joked, “Great hair,” before poking fun at how clean his shirt and boots looked. William happily played along and pointed out Kaleb’s boots, “Are they the cleanest ones you’ve got?” William even revealed that Prince George is a fan of the show and wanted his dad to remind Kaleb to “mind his language.” The whole exchange gave fans a glimpse of William’s cheekier side.

William and Kate ditched the usual royal routine when they appeared in A Berry Royal Christmas in 2019. The pair joined Mary Berry in the kitchen and helped prepare food, even taking part in a little roulade-making challenge. It was fun watching the usually polished couple get competitive over their baking and joke around as they tried to impress Mary.
