6 Photos of William and Kate From the Omani State Visit That Show They’re Ready for the Throne
A Royal Future
Prince William and Princess Kate have been taking on more responsibilities within the Royal Family, and the recent state visit of the Sultan of Oman offered another glimpse of their growing roles. From welcoming a foreign leader to joining King Charles at one of the most important royal events, the Prince and Princess of Wales were involved in several key moments. But it was not just their appearances that caught attention. There were several instances from the visit when William and Kate gave royal watchers a glimpse of what their future roles could look like.
Passing the Torch
One of the most important moments came during the state banquet held at Windsor Castle in honor of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman. With around 160 guests gathered in St George’s Hall, Charles, during his official speech, praised William and Oman’s Crown Prince, Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham. The King described it as a “living relationship being passed from one generation to the next,” a remark that reflected the importance of William’s growing role in maintaining international royal relationships.
A Personal Welcome
William and Kate were involved in welcoming Sultan Haitham at different stages of his visit. William was sent to greet the Sultan at his private UK residence, giving him a prominent role in the early stages of the visit. Kate, meanwhile, joined King Charles and Queen Camilla for the ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle. She performed a formal curtsy to the Omani ruler outside Windsor.
Leading the Procession
Another striking moment came during the ceremonial arrival procession at Windsor Castle. William and Kate travelled in the historic Australian State Coach alongside key members of the Omani delegation, including Crown Prince Al Said.
A Banquet to Remember
Held in honor of the Sultan of Oman, the state banquet was another moment that put William and Kate firmly in the spotlight. They played perfect hosts to the distinguished guests, including the royals, world leaders, and top foreign diplomats. Kate also made a fashion statement in a striking yellow gown, completing her look with royal jewelry, including Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara.
Picture Perfect
Before leaving for the state banquet, William and Kate shared an official portrait taken at Frogmore House by celebrity photographer Greg Williams. The image was captioned, “Ready for tonight's State Banquet in Windsor.” Royal portraits have long been an important part of how the monarchy presents itself to the public. As the future king and queen, it projected them in the spotlight and also allowed them to take ownership of their public image.
Guard of Honor
Even in the pouring rain, Kate stood alongside Charles, Queen Camilla, and William to watch the Guard of Honor inspection and the formal military march-past at Windsor Castle. While such ceremonial duties are traditionally led by the reigning monarch and his consort, Kate's presence alongside them was a notable moment. Rather than taking a backseat, the Princess of Wales joined the senior royals during an important part of the state visit. It was another glimpse of how she is becoming an increasingly visible figure in the monarchy and could one day stand beside William as Queen.
