Talking to The Mail on Sunday's YOU Magazine, royal biographer Giles Brandreth said, "She was adamant that she needed a place of her own—a sanctuary where she could cook scrambled eggs in her dressing gown, see her children and grandchildren, and simply be Camilla Parker Bowles rather than a Duchess or a Queen."

Camilla has long been passionate about reading, so it is hardly surprising that she reportedly wanted a formal library at Buckingham Palace. However, her enthusiasm for the project allegedly did not always match Charles's feelings about it. According to Radar Online, an insider shared that Camilla pushed for the library during the palace's renovation work. Her continued requests were reportedly “irritating him beyond belief,” but she did not give up on the idea and would not settle for less.

Camilla has time and again made it clear that the Queen is not afraid to speak her mind and even take things into her own hands. In an August 2025 conversation with The Mirror, former royal photographer and commentator Ian Pelham Turner shared Camilla's alleged concerns regarding William's position. Turner said he believed Camilla was “seeing William trying to create issues and she’s told Charles to stop it.” The expert also claimed that there had been rumors about Prince William trying to become “the driving force behind the throne," but the Queen put her foot down.

The Royal Family feud is no secret to anyone, but Camilla has made it clear that she will not let it affect Charles in any capacity. In early 2026, Charles intended to meet with his youngest son, Prince Harry, during a brief trip, but given Camilla's history with the Duke, she reportedly vetoed the meeting entirely. Talking about Camilla's stance, a source told Radar Online, "Camilla did not want the meeting to happen... She thinks Harry has caused untold trouble for his father and the royal family, and she has no desire to see him." They continued, "Charles feels he has no choice but to go along with Camilla, because doing otherwise would cause too much tension at home."
