Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips's daughter, Zara Tindall, appeared at the London Sporting Club lunch last week and discussed the difficulties the royal family members face that often go unnoticed. She admitted that the royal family, just like any other household, has their ups and downs in personal relationships. Tindall also opened up about a royal family member who she claims was an inspiration for her and others.
Commenting on the tensions and trials within the royal household, Tindall said, "It is very hard to see from the outside, but 100%, it is a family that is still going through the same struggles other people do. Whether they are relationships, obviously, it is very easy to see every day. We’re still very supportive of each other," as reported by the Daily Express. Subsequently, she praised the late Queen, sharing her thoughts on the major impact the monarch had on her life. As reported by The Sun, Tindall said, “We had a very incredible person to look up to who is sadly not here anymore. She was amazing and an inspiration to all of us.”
Tindall’s remarks come in light of Prince Harry’s controversial BBC interview, when he voiced his hope to mend ties with the royal family, especially with his father, King Charles. Harry acknowledged the many rifts he’s had with certain family members but shared that he has since let go of his anger and chosen to forgive. As reported by BBC News, he said, "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight anymore, Life is precious."
Speaking of his state security case, Harry also said, "This, at the heart of it, is a family dispute, and it makes me really, really sad that we're sitting here today, five years later, where a decision that was made most likely, in fact I know, to keep us under the roof." Harry’s hope to reconcile was largely sparked by worries over his father’s deteriorating health after his cancer diagnosis last year. However, Charles has held firm, keeping his distance from Harry as the trust is reportedly broken by the Duke's repeated public airing of grievances. While Harry's claims have earned the ire of the British public, he and Tindall both represent a new era of British royals, who, unlike the late Queen, have been more open about the struggles behind Palace doors.
Tindall's appearance at the London Sporting Club lunch was welcomed by royal fans, especially since she was missed at the recent VE Day celebration events of the royal family — the grand parade, Thanksgiving Service at Westminster Abbey, and a concert night, as reported by GB News. Instead, she was spotted at a stylish gathering at the Quaglino's restaurant in St. James, London.
