Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly facing a 'fresh crisis' as they hold on to their royal status. Royal expert Tom Bower revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are worried as the gap between their desired lifestyle and current trajectory widens. He also claimed that Markle has little interest in returning to the UK for a reconciliation, contrary to what Harry wants.

Harry recently made a public plea for reconciliation with his estranged family in an interview with the BBC. He said, "Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has, he won't speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.” In the same interview, he also admitted he cannot ever think of bringing Markle and their children to the UK without his security. Reflecting on his claims, Bower argued that the Sussexes do not see eye to eye on a potential royal comeback. As reported by OK! magazine, he argued, "So the real problem is that he wants to come back, but they have nowhere to live, because Frogmore Cottage was taken away from him after Spare was published. Also, Meghan doesn't want to come back, and there's no way he's going to split off from her and his children."

The Duke of Sussex, in his interview, also alleged that the royal family was behind the decision to withdraw his security, which he claimed was intended to force him back to the UK. Bower, however, strongly refuted the idea that King Charles could impact security decisions, stating, “Harry cannot – and doesn't want to – understand that his father cannot dictate. And the idea that anyone said to him, 'If you come back, then you'll be protected' is ridiculous.” Commenting on Harry's reconciliation plea, the expert added, "Harry's thinking is of 'reconciliation', having dumped on the royal family with Spare, the Oprah Winfrey interview, and their Netflix series. That's just totally unrealistic."

Bowers' claims about Markle and Harry's worry about their current trajectories were also echoed by royal expert Hugo Vickers. Speaking on the Sussexes' new ‘celebrity’ identities, Vickers told The Sun, “They're always changing direction, therefore they must always be at a crisis point. I have a feeling this story is going to end badly, certainly for Prince Harry.” He asserted, “It also could be the fact that they don't seem to have landed on paths...It doesn't seem like they've really figured out exactly who they want to be after leaving the royal family.”

Previously, Bower also alleged to The Mirror that Markle’s dreams of being a ‘billionaire celebrity’ did not align with Harry’s. He told the outlet, “He doesn't understand where she [Markle] is coming from, which is that she worked phenomenally hard, struggled hard, and was constantly humiliated.” Interestingly, the couple have reportedly entered their nine-month ‘professional divorce’, a move allegedly planned by Prince Harry. As a part of their agreement, the pair will reportedly hire separate chiefs of staff to oversee their individual business ventures.
