Source Close to Meghan Responds to Claims of Her 'Diva Demands' Ahead of UK Visit
Meghan Markle's alleged requests for her UK visit included bulletproof glass, a private plane, and luxury cars, to name a few.
Meghan Markle just cannot seem to escape the unfavorable headlines against her. Barely 14 days into the new year, a report surfaced alleging the Duchess of Sussex had made a list of 'diva-like' demands ahead of her first return to the UK in four years. The not-so-modest requests allegedly included bulletproof glass, a private plane, luxury cars, and overall complete control. In response, a source close to her has slammed the sheer absurdity of the claims, dubbing the entire story false and damaging.
The insider close to the Sussexes told the Daily Express, "This is a complete fabrication. Nothing about it is true. No demands like this have ever been made." The remarks come after royal columnist Rob Shuter claimed otherwise on his Substack. Quoting sources, Shuter argued her conditions concerned a proposed trip for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, which Markle was reportedly planning to attend with Prince Harry. If the visit goes ahead, it would mark her first time in Britain since Queen Elizabeth's funeral in September 2022.
According to one of Shuter's informants, the Duchess allegedly wanted "four floors of the Hyatt completely shut down just for her. Extra security outside…She's in total control." Another insider spilled, "Anyone who has any interaction with her has to call her 'Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.' No exceptions." Moreover, Shuter had argued that Markle was reportedly planning to fly in her own chef, assistant, hair and makeup team, and four separate rooms with luxury cars for her PR staff alone. "She's [Markle] asking for a fortress. Bulletproof glass at the Games, armed security everywhere she goes."
Insiders have also revealed that Markle's entire visit is dependent on the outcome of Harry's ongoing UK security review. "She will not step foot in Britain without full protection — police escorts, secured venues, no risks — period." Another chimed in, "Everything depends on the security review. Until that decision is final, nothing is locked in." As Shuter puts it, Markle's potential UK return is already being treated as a 'high-stakes negotiation,' one that could turn such a solemn charity event into a full-grown royal spectacle.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time that Shuter's trusted informants have accused Markle of exhibiting diva-like behavior, though the Sussex sources chose not to respond at the time. In a separate article on his Substack, an insider told Shuter that her front-row moment at the 2026 Paris Fashion Show wasn’t an invite but a transaction. Balenciaga was chasing global buzz, and "Meghan delivered," but only for what they claimed was a seven-figure payout. They added that she had requested "a private jet, a five-star suite, a glam squad," the works. Her team, they said, approached the show with the intensity of a film premiere.
