Sarah Ferguson’s Unusual Name for Andrew Reveals the Truth About Their Bond: Expert
A surprising nickname Sarah Ferguson reportedly still uses for Andrew is raising fresh questions about their relationship.
Although Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson got divorced in 1996, they still share quite the complicated bond. Even after the former prince and Fergie got caught up in several Epstein-related controversies and multiple leaving-Andrew-for-good rumors, it seems the 'happiest divorced couple' continues to share a resilient bond. In fact, one royal expert has revealed Andrew's ex-wife still apparently uses a bizarre nickname to address him.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward, who has spent time with Ferguson over the years, claimed that the former Duchess still speaks about Mountbatten-Windsor in surprisingly affectionate terms. Seward revealed that she has even referred to the disgraced ex-Duke as “husband” decades after their 1996 divorce. Speaking to the Mirror, Seward recalled, "I remember on one occasion a long time ago I was with her and [Andrew] rang up and she stood up and said, 'Hello husband'." She continued, “He wasn't really her husband at that point as they had separated, but that's how they've always seen each other.”
Seward suggested that a complete split between the pair is highly unlikely, arguing that Ferguson would never want to cut the former Duke off entirely. According to the royal biographer, their connection goes far beyond their former marriage and is rooted in the family they built together.
She claimed that Mountbatten-Windsor has always viewed Ferguson first and foremost as the mother of his children, making her one of the most important women in his life. For that reason, Seward said she believes the two have remained in touch despite ongoing speculation surrounding their relationship. She said, "She was the most important woman in his life, so of course she's in contact with him.”
Speaking more on this, royal expert Andrew Lownie offers a fresh perspective in the updated edition of his book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York. He suggested that rather than being the “happiest divorced couple,” they are more like “Bonnie and Clyde.” He explained that their decades-long bond is driven less by romance and more by survival and mutual benefit amid ongoing scrutiny over Mountbatten-Windsor Epstein ties.
The pair, though, are no longer living under the same roof following their exit from Royal Lodge, with Mountbatten-Windsor currently staying on the Sandringham Estate at Marsh Farm. Meanwhile, Ferguson’s whereabouts have been shrouded in mystery for a long time until she was spotted in the Mayrlife wellness spa in Altaussee, near Salzburg. She has left the retreat since then and is relying on her close friends for support.
