Sarah Ferguson May Find It 'Very Hard' to Stay Away From Her New Grandchild, Expert Claims
On May 4th, Buckingham Palace shared Princess Eugenie’s pregnancy news through an official statement.
Over the last few months, Sarah Ferguson has largely remained out of the public spotlight and out of the reach of the media, prompting serious speculation about her whereabouts. Some sources have even claimed that she has been spending time travelling privately and staying at wellness retreats overseas. The reason behind this is mainly the ongoing controversies surrounding her and her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor's, past connections with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. However, with her daughter Princess Eugenie's recent pregnancy announcement, a Royal editor has now claimed that it will be very hard for Sarah to keep her distance from her newest grandchild.
As reported by HELLO Magazine, royal editor Emily Nash stated, "This baby will be born into very different family dynamics to those experienced by his or her older siblings." She then went on to add, "While their grandmother and grandfather have spent plenty of time with August and Ernest, they are likely to keep more of a distance this time around, although I’m sure Sarah will find it very hard to stay away from a new grandchild." In the past, the former Duchess of York has played an active role in the lives of Princess Beatrice and Eugenie’s five children, often being described as a loving grandmother.
Emily further shared, "Regardless of all that has gone on with her parents, this is wonderful news for Princess Eugenie and will give the whole royal family something positive to focus on after a tough few months. It’s something joyful and hopeful in the middle of what has been a very grim chapter in the York family’s history." She even praised King Charles' reaction to the special news and said, "The King’s warm words show that he still has a great deal of affection for Eugenie and that he has not ostracized his nieces. We might well start seeing them at family gatherings again."
On May 4th, the Buckingham Palace announced Eugenie’s baby news through an official statement, and added that Charles had been informed and was 'delighted' by the announcement. The statement read, "August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news." Meanwhile, it's worth noting that Sarah entered grandmotherhood for the first time in 2021 after Eugenie gave birth to her eldest son, August. Following his arrival, the Duchess spoke warmly in an interview about the special connection she had formed with her grandson.
"Well, baby August is phenomenal. He's a very strong little chap. August thinks I'm hysterical," she said. At the time, Beatrice was also preparing to welcome her first child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Later on, in 2023, just a while before Eugenie gave birth to her second son, Sarah publicly announced that one of her proudest achievements was watching her daughters embrace motherhood so well. Therefore, when looking back, it is quite clear that the close bond that Sarah shares with her daughters and grandchildren might pull her back to them after the arrival of the newest member of the family this summer.
