Royal Fan Reveals the ‘Clear Shift’ in Beatrice During the Sandringham Walk This Year
Onlookers were left surprised when Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie joined the royal family for the annual Christmas walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church. Even though there were chances that Eugenie would attend the service, reports had previously suggested that Beatrice would be traveling abroad with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, to avoid choosing between the royals and her parents. However, putting the speculation to rest, the York sisters showed up, proving their loyalty to the Crown. While the rest of the family greeted well-wishers, Beatrice’s demeanor showed a ‘clear shift’ from previous years.
@theorderoftheanvil SO SO SO SO GLAD she came! Look at her hands, she was so anxious. She is extremely underrated. Wonderful Royal! She is definitely a Gryffindor #princessbeatrice #royalfamily #BritishRoyalty #sandringham #brave ♬ Christmas Piano - Jeffrey Michael
An attendee, Karen Anvil, who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the royals, noted a major change in Beatrice’s body language. She discussed her observations with GB News, sharing the interaction she had with the Princess. In a now viral TikTok video, Anvil is seen telling Beatrice, “I’m so glad you came!” In response, the mother of two politely responded, “Oh, that’s very kind, thank you.”
Reflecting on the encounter, Anvil explained that Beatrice appeared 'under pressure' and 'guarded.' Having followed the royal family for years at Sandringham, she felt an instinctive need to make a kind remark to the Princess rather than approach her with the 'scrutiny' she has lately faced. While their interaction was brief, Anvil noted a ‘clear shift’ in Beatrice’s expressions as soon as she realized Anvil’s comments were kind and genuine. “It was not about attention or reaction. It was about acknowledging a human moment,” she noted, adding, “What mattered was not what was said verbally, but the visible softening in her expression when she realized the comment was kind and sincere.”
Beatrice's initial apprehension comes as no surprise, given the scandals Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have brought upon the House of York. Though the sisters remain innocent, they have also been repeatedly pulled into the controversy. However, by choosing to spend Christmas with the royal family rather than their parents at Royal Lodge, Beatrice and Eugenie have showcased that they are still welcome within the Firm. Speaking to the Daily Mail, body language expert Judi James also shared her views on the York sisters’ demeanor during the walk. As per James, Eugenie walked at the center of the royal group, 'cocooned' and protected by the family. “Despite her parents' forced absence,” the expert noted, the sisters "held their heads up in public.”
Regarding Beatrice, James noted that she appeared to keep a 'lower profile' than her sister as the two walked to the church. "It looked like a message of intent in terms of resilience and confidence in the face of her father's ongoing scandal and banishment from the line-up," James added. To ease the tension, as per James, Prince Edward reportedly acted as a 'human ice-breaker,' making sure his nieces feel more at ease.
