Prince Harry sat down for an interview with the BBC hours after losing his appeal for state-funded security. In the interview, the Duke of Sussex openly admitted that he wishes to reconcile with his estranged family. Commenting on the same, royal expert Hilary Fordwich shared how the late Queen Elizabeth would have likely reacted to her grandson’s reconciliation plea.
Fordwich told Fox News Digital that the Queen would have been 'truly horrified' by Harry’s explosive tell-all on air. She explained, “For her, it would indeed have been felt as a violation of both discretion and privacy. She valued the little privacy her family members could maintain in such an exposed role.” The expert added, “Being betrayed by a family member, publicly airing grievances was abhorrent to her. She was particularly private regarding matters of health and family disputes.”
Fordwich also pointed out that the Queen had initially agreed to let Harry and Meghan Markle step back as senior members and move to California. She added, “She was focused on protecting the future of the monarchy. She guarded its reputation and continuity her entire life, focusing on stability.” Her claims were echoed by British broadcaster and photographer, Helena Chard. She believed that what should have been a 10-minute interview about the Duke’s court case turned into a “delusional, damning, self-absorbed moan.” As reported by the New York Post, she said, “[Harry] has shown complete disrespect for the lifelong work of the late Queen Elizabeth II…The majority of people, even non-monarchists, held the highest admiration for the late Queen Elizabeth and the unifying role she played.”
Fordwich and Chard believe that Harry’s wish to mend fences with his family would never come to fruition anytime soon. Chard explained, “Prince William will never forgive Prince Harry for the hurt he caused their grandmother…He’s not apologized and has blown all trust…the royal family will not reply to his comments, contradictions, and deep-seated resentment.”
In his bombshell interview, Harry revealed that he has had numerous disputes with his family over his fight for security. He claimed, “Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has, he won't speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.” Royal expert Lee Cohen also told GB News that Harry’s interview served as a useful reminder of the clear-eyed leadership of Queen Elizabeth. He explained, “Her decision to slam the door on their 'half-in, half-out' royal fantasy was not just dignified — it was lifesaving for the Crown.” As per insiders, a reconciliation between the Duke of Sussex and his estranged family is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
