Royal Chef Recalls Prince Harry’s Wild Prank With Pals That Had Him 'on His Knees' the Next Morning
Former royal chef Visen Anenden shared insights into a young Prince Harry's 'boisterous' behavior that left the palace kitchen in a mess.
Long before he became a devoted husband and father, Prince Harry was the royal family's wild child, regularly pulling pranks and causing harmless chaos with his friends. Unlike his older brother, who carried the calm responsibility of an heir, he enjoyed a more carefree youth. According to former royal chef Visen Anenden, a young Prince Harry once turned the palace kitchen into an absolute disaster zone after initiating a chaotic flour fight with his friends and then dealing with the messy aftermath on his knees the next morning.
As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, Anenden, who worked at the Gloucestershire estate as head chef, recalled how the Duke of Sussex had left the Highgrove kitchen in a mess after a wild night. He said, "I remember one morning waking up to find him [Harry] cleaning the kitchen on his knees. He'd had a flour fight with his mates the night before. I told him I'd clean it all up, but he insisted he did it himself and even said he'd help prepare any food that had been accidentally ruined." He asserted that the young prince was very considerate, "even if he'd done something a little naughty."
Stressing that Harry was 'boisterous but great,' he noted the stark difference between him and Prince William's personalities, with the latter being 'more calm.' He continued, "They [William and Harry] both had a great sense of humor and were great with the staff… They liked bolder flavours and spice." Sharing more insights about Harry's free-spirited and approachable attitude, the former chef revealed that the Prince often asked him for cooking lessons and would willingly cook breakfast. "He [Harry] really enjoyed being taught how to prepare dishes, especially fish. That was something he seemed to take a real interest in and liked trying to get it perfect."
That being said, Anenden fondly recalled that on the morning of William's marriage, he had prepared Eggs Benedict for the brothers. He added of their behind-the-scenes behavior, "William seemed very calm, actually, and Harry was cracking plenty of jokes to make him laugh, probably trying to put his mind at ease. I met Kate many times, and she was always so lovely and down to earth. She seemed to take to royal life with ease." Harry would hardly risk a Montecito flour fight today, unless 'Papa Sussex' fancies panic-cleaning the kitchen before Meghan Markle and the children discover his midnight disaster.
