Royal Butler Reveals How Harry and Meghan Would Have Marked Louis’ Birthday Amid Family Rift
Despite the ongoing family rift, there could still be a quiet gesture from across the Atlantic.
Prince Louis officially turned eight on April 23, and many have wondered whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will celebrate as well. With the ongoing family rift, there could still be a quiet gesture from across the Atlantic. A former royal butler suggested that the birthday boy’s uncle and aunt might mark the day by sending gifts.
Even after walking away from the royal family and leaving the UK back in 2020, Harry is believed to have had very little contact with Prince William’s children. Recently, there has been plenty of talk that the Duke of Sussex might eventually reconcile with the Royal Family, especially after King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis, but so far, nothing has actually changed.
According to Grant Harrold, who once worked for King Charles III, the Sussexes may still find a way to mark the occasion. Harry’s close relationship with his nieces and nephews is likely the reason why. He said (via GB News), “I also think Harry and Meghan will send presents as well, or possibly vouchers. Hopefully it's not something from Meghan's new range - can you imagine?”
Harrold made it clear that, while tensions within the family have been widely reported, the children were never part of that divide. He noted that Harry has always shared a strong bond with his nieces and nephews, which is why he believes a quiet gesture would still be likely. He added, “Harry was so close to his nieces and nephews. Despite everything that's happened, the issues have never been with the children, so I think the Sussexes will reach out on the day.”
On the day of his birthday, Louis spent part of the day back at Lambrook School in Windsor as the new term resumed. On the other hand, William was on a very different schedule, visiting Jaguar TCS Racing’s headquarters in Oxfordshire, where he tried his hand at driving a Formula E car. Speaking of the celebrations, the former butler said, “I think William and Kate will throw Louis a party with his friends, just like any other child that age, really. They might invite some members of the family as well, but the focus will be the birthday boy having fun with his pals.”
Furthermore, Louis’ birthday will also be a bittersweet moment for William and Middleton, according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond. Louis, known for his adorable over-the-top antics during public appearances, is naturally beginning to settle down a bit in public. For his parents, it’s likely an emotional moment as they watch their youngest slowly grow out of those early, carefree years. She said, “A tinge of sadness? Yes, it’s inevitable as your ‘baby’ shoots up and grows out of all his clothes, exerts his will and shows his independence.”
