Queen Camilla's 'Ruthless Streak' Has Experts Drawing Comparisons To An Unlikely Royal
Queen Camilla may seem warm and cheerful in public, but one royal expert claims there’s a much tougher side to her behind closed doors.
When it comes to her public image, Queen Camilla always appears to be smiling and pleasant during her interactions. In fact, ever since King Charles took the throne, Camilla has largely been quiet and supportive. However, one royal expert has revealed things that may make people see her differently. Apparently, the Queen has a ‘ruthless streak’ that not many people get to see. But there's another side to that reality as well.
For starters, the royal author compared Camilla to the Queen Mother, saying she is incredibly good at putting people at ease. Christopher Wilson explained to The Daily Mail, “She's every bit as convincing as the old Queen Mother was when it comes to putting on a sweet smile and saying just the right thing to put people at their ease.” But that's not where the comparison stops. He added that, “Like the Queen Mom, there's a ruthless streak to Camilla which she takes care to keep hidden from view.”
The author also explained that Camilla tends to stay guarded because she is deeply committed to her role alongside King Charles. He claimed, “Her job, as she sees it, is to support and protect her man.” Even though Camilla only officially became part of the Royal Family when she married Charles in 2005. Wilson believes that she fully understands what is at stake when it comes to protecting the monarchy. “Monarchy is about survival, and Camilla understands that,” he explained. Wilson also mentioned that Camilla knows how much influence the Queen Mother had during a really difficult time for the monarchy.
After King Edward VIII stepped down from the throne in 1936, his brother King George VI was suddenly forced into the role, even though he was never meant to be king. According to Wilson, the Queen Mother helped give him confidence and pushed him to grow into the role, especially during World War II, when he became a strong public figure alongside Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Similarly, much like the Queen Mother, Camilla also has the responsibility of standing next to her husband, in every small or big way.
Although there had been rumors that the Queen married Charles just for the title and the wealth, her ex-royal aide came to her defense, saying, “It wasn't the role or title—whether as Duchess [of Cornwall] or Queen—that appealed to her; it was being with the man she loved." They added, "That meant accepting the duties that would come with him [Charles], even at a time of life when most of her contemporaries were deadheading roses in the garden or having lovely cruises in the Med.” Needless to say, Camilla has been a massive support for Charles ever since their marriage, throughout his reign, and will possibly continue to do so till the very end.
