Princess Kate Sings in a Flawless Cockney Accent in Unearthed Childhood Clip — Watch
A rare childhood clip of Kate Middleton has revealed yet another unexpected skill she has.
Only a very few members of the royal family continue to surprise the masses quite like Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales. In her many years as a royal, fans have watched the future queen show everything from athletic ability to piano-playing talent during public engagements. In this way, she has quietly built a reputation as one of the monarchy’s most multifaceted figures. But now, a rare childhood clip has revealed yet another unexpected skill, and it has left the internet completely spellbound.
A resurfaced video is going around the internet showing a young Princess Kate from her childhood singing her heart out during a school production of the classic, internationally renowned musical, My Fair Lady. She appeared as the lead, Eliza Doolittle, as she performed the song Wouldn’t It Be Lovely, that too in a flawless cockney accent. She is believed to be 11 years old at the time the clip was taken. Kate confidently delivered the number without missing a note, immediately impressing royal watchers online. The clip immediately gained quite the traction, as many fans united to say how the future queen, with her childhood skills on display, was absolutely brilliant. Watch the video here.
What makes the footage especially remarkable is how naturally musical the princess appeared, especially since she has subtly displayed similar talents throughout the years. But she has made sure to never make those skills central to her public image. During one of her first royal engagements alongside Prince William in Wales in February 2011, Kate impressed and shocked the crowd. She did so by confidently singing the Welsh national anthem during a visit to Trearddur Bay. Royal fans at the time viewed the moment as an early sign that she was willing to fully embrace the cultures and traditions of the places she visited rather than simply observe from a distance.
Her musical confidence became even more apparent years later when she surprised viewers by playing piano during her first Christmas carol concert in 2021. Kate joined noted singer Tom Walker for a live rendition of For Those Who Can’t Be Here, with the performance airing across the U.K. on Christmas Eve. As he reflected on the experience afterward, Walker said: “Without doubt, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I thought she absolutely smashed the performance; it’s not easy to just jump behind a piano with a bunch of musicians you’ve never played with before and record live takes to camera.” He continued, “But she completely nailed it."
Later, Walker also praised Middleton’s warmth behind the scenes, describing her as “such a lovely, kind, and warm-hearted person.” He elaborated, “She took the time to thank everyone personally for the opportunity to play together.” Between her piano skills, public singing moments, and now the rediscovered My Fair Lady performance, the Princess continues to surprise royal fans with talents that go far beyond a refined image typically associated with a future queen. It has shed light on the fact that she had been immensely confident about stepping into the spotlight since childhood, before the opportunity to become a royal found its way into her life.
