Princess Anne Rubs Shoulders With K-Pop Stars During a Special Seoul Engagement—Watch
Princess Anne interacted with a popular K-pop group during her visit to South Korea.
Princess Anne is never going to beat the ‘hardest-working royal’ claims. If anything, that title has been further solidified following her triumphant visit to South Korea. The trip saw the Princess Royal take on a characteristically packed and hectic schedule of engagements. During the tour, she met with President Lee Jae Myung and even interacted with a humanoid robot, but it was one particular interaction of hers that immediately captured global attention.
During a reception at the British embassy in Seoul celebrating the UK-Republic of Korea partnership, Anne met the popular K-pop girl band NMIXX. The embassy shares a girls’ empowerment partnership with the music group, which consists of Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, and Kyujin. The pop act debuted in 2022 and quickly achieved global stardom—and now, they have rubbed shoulders with the Princess Royal herself. Watch the video here.
The interaction between Anne and NMIXX caught attention not just because of the high-profile individuals involved but also because it was genuinely heartwarming. The pop stars offered sweet, polite bows to the royal as she was introduced to the group, and she subsequently shook hands with each member. For the special occasion, Anne opted for a yellow skirt and a striped blazer, finishing her look with a black purse, black gloves, black pumps, and her signature updo.
Anne is not the first royal to meet a K-pop group. Her older brother, King Charles, famously met Blackpink in 2023, when he presented the pop stars with MBEs at Buckingham Palace. The members—Jennie Kim, Roseanne Park, Jisoo Kim, and Lisa—were honored for their roles as COP26 advocates and for their commitment to combating climate change. Charles himself is a staunch environmentalist and works tirelessly towards global sustainability. “It is especially inspiring to see Korea’s younger generation embrace the cause. I can only admire how they can prioritize these vital issues, as well as being global superstars,” remarked the monarch at the time, as reported by Town and Country magazine.
Anne visited South Korea this month, accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. The couple began the trip on a poignant note by paying tribute at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan. The Princess Royal laid a wreath to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Imjin River, toured the grounds to honor Victoria Cross recipients, and met with Korean War veterans. The hardworking royal also paid a visit to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. After an eventful three-day visit to South Korea, the Princess Royal traveled to Thailand for another jam-packed two days. She concluded her tour of South Asia after a total of five days.
