Princess Kate Goes Into Full 'Mom Mode' During Heartwarming Hospital Outing — Watch
Princess Kate's loving conversation with a young boy at Evelina London Children's Hospital proved why she's truly the children's princess.
Princess Kate is no stranger to the affection of young fans, often returning their hugs and playful energy with equal warmth during royal visits. Her June 6 outing to Evelina London Children's Hospital was no different. The mother of three shared a touching interaction with Arjun, a terminally ill boy, sitting beside his hospital bed to help arrange his stuffed toys and share a few laughs. It was a heartwarming moment that beautifully illustrated why she is so often called 'the children's princess.'
The Princess of Wales, who wore a stunning light-yellow dress with buttons and a Suzannah London belt, visited the Children's Hospital to learn about its new developments and support facilities for young cancer patients and their families in care. As the patron, she visited the Galaxy ward, a new outpatient unit within the Children's Day Treatment Center, which opened in May. There, she met Arjun and his family, who showed her some of his Paw Patrol toys and a Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal. Kate could be seen lovingly asking him, "Who's your favorite? Is Spy your favorite? Who is the cheeky one?" referring to his collection as she carefully arranged them. At one point, they even blew each other kisses. Watch the video here!
This was not her only interaction with the little ones. When she departed the hospital, she beamed as she received flowers from a five-year-old girl, Amelie. Throughout the engagement, Kate spent time chatting and playing with children on the wards and learned more about the hospital's plans to bring world-leading specialist expertise, treatment, and family-centered support. She was briefed about their plans for a new building adjacent to the site, which may tentatively open by early 2030. That initiative aims to provide more scanners, beds, and operating theaters with state-of-the-art technology.
With that in mind, this was Kate's second time at the hospital, having first visited in December 2023, about a month before she took a break from public duties following her abdominal surgery and eventual cancer diagnosis. Her recent engagement came as the hospital's charitable arm said it was hoping to raise $133 million towards the new building. Last week, the Princess took on the three peaks challenge in 24 hours to spotlight life beyond cancer and support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, one of Evelina's collaborators, where she received chemotherapy after her diagnosis.
