Prince William ‘Just Wants to Get on With the Job’ Amid 'Pressure' to Reconcile With Harry
EXCLUSIVE: The Prince of Wales is just too busy to worry about the ongoing rift with his brother, that's according to royal expert Victoria Arbiter
PRINCE William is just to occupied to worry about the ongoing rift with his brother due to all his initiatives.
That's according to Royal Expert Victoria Arbiter, who spoke exclusively to the Royal Observer after Prince Harry made his sensational return to the UK alongside Meghan Markle. After the Sussex family announced their comeback to the UK, many royal watchers started to speculate about what the news might mean for the estranged brothers. Both sons of Princess Diana are currently not on speaking terms after Harry and Meghan's departure as senior working members of the Royal Family.
Since they first left Britain six years ago, Harry has sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey on CBS, participated in making his own Netflix documentary where he made a series of potentially damaging comments about the Royal Institution, and, of course, he revealed previously private information in his bombshell memoir, Spare.
However, Victoria Arbiter thinks that Prince William is just to busy with his initiatives such as the Earthshot Prize and Homewards and lending support to both his wife - who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 - and his father The King, who is still undergoing treatment for his own illness. She told me: "If I see one more time that William is apoplectic or incandescent [in the press], I don't think William cares. I think he's got far more important things to worry about, such as dropping his 13-year-old son off at boarding school, getting ready for the Earthshot Prize that'll be coming up later this year, running Homewards, supporting his wife, supporting his father."
Homewards is a five-year program as part of the work of the Royal Foundation that was launched in June 2023 by The Prince of Wales to try and tackle the issue of homelessness in the UK. The initiative aims to show that it "can be made rare, brief, and unrepeated." Meanwhile, The Earthshot Prize is a global climate initiative launched in 2020 to support groundbreaking environmental work.
Arbiter added: "William has moved on. I don't think he's remotely apoplectic. He doesn't have the time, the energy, or the inclination for that. So, I think everyone on social media. We live in a rage-baity society, and people online just love to be angry. But perhaps let's channel that energy into a more positive way of thinking, and just allow everyone to just get on with it."
During their childhood, Prince William and Harry grew up in a somewhat tumultuous environment as their parents tried to navigate their complicated marriage. During the 90s, the pair engaged in several controversial sit-down interviews, revealing the true state of their relationship. Much was also reported in the press at the time, and Arbiter remarked that William will not want a repetition of any of his parents' actions.
"in terms of looking forwards, and again, we really can only speculate here. But I think William is not remotely interested in entering into a tit-for-tat," she told me. "He knows that if he were to say something publicly, and a lot of people have been calling for him to say something publicly, all that does is further fuel the narrative."
She added: "He's not got time for that; he's not interested in that. He just wants to get on with the job at hand."
