Prince William Gives Fans a Peek Inside His 'Forever Home' — and It’s Pure Royal Elegance
Prince William and Kate Middleton finally turned a new leaf for their family with their move into Forest Lodge on November 5. After a challenging year at Adelaide Cottage, their former residence nearby, the couple is embracing renewed hope and stability. Recently, royal watchers got a rare glimpse inside their new 'forever home' in William's inspirational Armistice Day video. In the clip, the future King is flanked by two grand paintings accented with luxurious gold detailing, subtly showcasing Middleton's savvy eye for décor.
On the occasion of Armistice Day, the Prince of Wales delivered a special message to schoolchildren across the UK as part of the Royal British Legion's annual Remembrance Assembly. The clip drew attention not only for its inspirational takeaway but also for offering one of the first glimpses inside his newly renovated home. Behind the Prince, a grand doorway framed by opulent gold and crimson curtains subtly revealed Middleton's contemporary-classic touch. The Princess of Wales has clearly sunk her teeth into the design process, reportedly selecting her fabric furnishings from Marina Mill. These hand-screen-printed designs cost upwards of $131 per meter. The family-run mill has provided fabrics for many royal homes, including Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, and Highgrove.
Commenting on William and Middleton's 'tastefully discreet vibe' for their new home in the video, interior design expert Benji Lewis told The Daily Mail, "We're definitely going English, elegant grand country house in the interior style here, the rooms are likely breezy and spacious, and the ceilings lofty and high with beautiful tall windows, which afford an abundance of natural light to flood into the spaces." According to him, the royal couple's smart decision to hang artwork is, in a way, 'smart and unfussy'. He added, "They’ve cleverly struck a tasteful balance between calm and slightly contemporary by blending neutral tones like ivory and taupe."
Middleton, who's something of a design expert, is said to have thoroughly enjoyed decorating the family's new home. The residence features Venetian windows, marble fireplaces, and a barrel-vaulted hall ceiling, with many of the furnishings sourced from high-end British brands. Forest Lodge is roughly twice the size of Adelaide Cottage, where the Waleses lived for three years. In September, Middleton was spotted selecting a 24-seat dining table from a warehouse specializing in antiques — a clear sign she's planning to host lavish dinner parties at the property.
Earlier this year, after news of their relocation had hit the shelves, The Sun reported that William and Middleton were hoping for a 'fresh start.' A source spilled, "Windsor has become their home...Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind," referring to the Queen's death and Middleton's cancer diagnosis. Insiders also stressed that their move would allow them to be 'as hands-on as possible' as parents to their three children, while balancing royal duties. The couple reportedly plans on continuing to live at Forest Lodge, even after William becomes King, thereby breaking centuries-old royal tradition.
